ᴅᴇᴀᴅ ᴏʀ ᴀʟɪᴠᴇ

the four of you make your way to where the lights came from and once you're there you go inside the building

- the game arena is up ahead-

cautiously walking you find your way to a dimly lit hallway with a stack of cellphones and a sign that says 'one per person' under it

confused as you all are, you pick them up anyway

"it has face recognition" karube says slightly amused

you were about to speak when another voice was heard from down the side of the hallway you all came in from

"a game" she says

she walks over to you and briefly tells you about borderland before picking up a phone for herself

another girl appears

she seems to be a bit younger then the rest of you but not by too much

after the second girl to show up is given a cellphone you all enter an elevator which leads you to the first room of the game and the timer starts almost instantly

2:00 minutes left

once you enter the room you see two doors, one which has the word 'live" the other has 'die' and it's your choice which door you go into

but it's not that simple

if you choose the wrong door and open it then you will die

if you choose the right door you will continue the same cycle until you die or somehow manage to get to the last door

1:00 left

"the answer is live" the woman says

"how do you know for sure?" arisu asks

she avoids eye contact but continues with her sentence "isn't it obvious? it says live"

51 seconds left

"what is that smell" chota asks

looking down you see that it's smoke

"someone has to open the door or we're all gonna die" you start to shake

arisu puts an arm on your shoulder in attempt to calm your nerves

27 seconds left

"i cant take it anymore!" the younger girl screams and runs to the door that says live

she opens it and is met by a laser to the head

"is she dead?" you ask

but nobody responds

10 seconds left

the other woman runs through the door that says die, followed by chota and karube

7 seconds left

"y/n come on we have to go" arisu pleads as he tugs on your arm

6 seconds left

"she's dead" you continue to blankly stare at the door the other girl just died in

5 seconds left

"ARISU! Y/N!" karube screams from the other door

4 seconds left

arisu has no choice but to pick you up because there was no way you were moving anytime soon

3 seconds left

"hurry!" chota yells

2 seconds left

arisu had just made it through the door with you in his hands when the fire exploded across the entire room you all just left

not giving you any time to process what just happened another timer begins, this time being 10 seconds less than the last

1:50 left

"surely the correct door is live because the last one was die, right?" arisu says

"yeah there is no way they would put die twice" karube agrees

"ah i get it" the woman says

"it isn't about which door is correct, it's about who's going to be the sacrifice" she continues

"so it should be you!" you scream

"you sacrificed the last girl now it's your turn" karube chimes in

"yeah" arisu agrees

"stop offering other people up and do it yourself" the woman points to arisu

he contemplates for a moment but then turns to the door that says live

"i'll do it" he says

"what? no" you tell him

"i'll be fine y/n" he assures you

"arisu you're not doing it" you grab onto his arm

"y/n everything will work out, plus if it's not the right door then you have guaranteed safety in the next" he tells you

"no" you say

arisu gets out of your grip and is heading towards the live door, but before he could even get over to it you ran towards the other door

"i'll open this one" you say

"y/n wait no" karube says

"too late" you say and spring the door open

"oh thank god" you fall to your knees

the others rush in behind you and the next timer starts

"don't ever do something so careless ever again" arisu tells you

"you were gonna do the same thing and it was a good thing i did what i did" you say back

"now which door could it be?" you stand up
