chapter four

Your POV

You ensured you got to the training ground nice and early this morning to show the Chief that you are ready for this and that you deserve to be here.

However as you stepped foot inside the temple you were greeted by an annoyed looking Chief.

"Looks like the nice Chief has vacayed." You sighed.

"Why did she have to be the first one here." Beifong furrowed her brows, crossing her arms.

As you began to make your way up to her pedistoll you began being addressed.

"Now dont think because I defended you yesterday means I'll be going easy on you today as well. I expect your very best." She exclaimed.

"Yes mam!" You saluted.

"Now...while we wait for the others let's make the best of this opportunity." She smirked down at you.

"H-huh??"

"DROP AND GIVE ME A THOUSAND!!" She boomed across the arena.

"I-i...what...a-a thousand?" You stuttered, your jaw on the floor.

"YOU HEARD ME ROOKIE! MAKE ME SAY IT AGAIN AND YOURE OUT OF HERE!!" She roared, slamming her fist into the pedistool roughly.

You didn't say another word as you fell to the ground and started doing pushups.

You weren't complaining too much though. You've always excelled at endurance. Turns out training since you could walk pays off huh.

The problem came when you were at about 300. You felt a sharp pain in your stomach. That unmistakeable tight squeeze of the abdomen.

You were starving.

"Holy crap...I haven't eaten anything since yesterday morning. This....this fatal mistake could cost me my whole future career. If I don't pass this test...I'm out. I was so consumed by my thoughts that I rushed up stairs last night without eating dinner. My dumbass didnt even have breakfast this morning because I wanted to be early, even though the Chief specifically ordered us to eat this morning. Its...i-its all over..."

"WHY DID YOU STOP CADET!?" Beifong boomed.

"I-i...."

I can't let her know

I need to keep going

"I'm...fine..." You gathered all your strength and kept going.
