chapter six

"Y-n dear...please come out of your room. Your mother's getting worried about you. At least let me come in to comfort you sweetie." Your concerned mother pleaded through your birch wooden door, earning a pitiful wail from you along the lines of "just leave me alone."

Your mother sighed admitting defeat as she made her way down the stairs, a single tear running down her cheek.

"My poor baby."

As she turned around the corner past the front door, a dark figure caught her eye. She slowly turned her head around to face the door greeted only by a very intimidating woman standing by the door.

Her emerald eyes shot daggers through the mother's chest, demanding entrance into the building. It was only then she recognised the woman as the one and only Chief Beifong, immediately causing her to rush over to the door and welcome her drenched figure inside and into the warmth of an available towel.

"Oh dear you're drenched. What ever inspired you to go out side in the pouring rain honey? Ooh you poor thing" her motherly instincts kicking in as she dried off the white singlet of the only slightly younger woman. Ussualy Beifong would hate being doted on like this, misinterpreting compassion for pity, but there was something about Mrs l-n that eased her nerves and made her feel welcome and loved, despite the fact that Mrs l-n would be no more than 5 years older than her.

After Beifong was cleaned up to Mrs l-n's satisfaction, they both sat down in front of the fireplace with cups of traditional Japanese tea.

"So, what brings such a prestigious young woman like yourself into our humble little home." Mrs l-n smiled warmly at her guest, taking another sip of her sakura tea.

Beifong chuckled a bit at the "young" part. "Well, I have actually come to have a few words with your daughter if that's alright with you. Retarding the police exam."

"Oh please do! She's been upstairs sobbing all afternoon. Maybe seeing you might answer some of her questions and make her feel better." Beifong grimaced at the image that created on her mind. You....your beautiful emerald eyes....crying... all alone.

She didn't know why she cared so much. But she didnt have time to think about that. Her heart was pounding and her mind was focused on one thing.

She had to get up there
