I finally got to work. Pulling up, i see a very upset, teary looking Ethan. Next to him are some...movers? Oh god what have i missed?
I quickly park the car and walk straight up to Ethan.
"Ethan i am SO sorry im late! I promise i will work extra hours this week to make up for i-Ethan? Are you ok? Whats happening?" I look at him worriedly. Am i gonna be fired? Why are the movers here? He has to tell me.
"We are being shutdown, Allie. There's nothing we can do. We couldnt pay off the observatory so its going." He just stares into the distance. I do too. Im numb.
It was a long and awkward silence before either of us said anything until finally i asked,
"And all of the equipment? Where is it going?" Ethan took a long pause and looked at me sympathetically and apologetically at the same time. He finally replied with:
"I dont know. It just isnt staying here if we dont pay for it and we cant."
"Oh." Thats all i said. That all i could say. The observatory and all of the equipment is going and theres nothing i can do about it. Finally I decide to leave.
"I need to go. Goodbye Ethan." I say.
"Im leaving too. Goodbye Allie. It was nice working with you." He leaves.
I decide to go in one more time. I enter. Its empty. Everything gone. Tears start to form in my eyes. All of my research. Gone. I need to go. I walk out, unlock my car and get in. I take a minute then start the engine. Only it doesnt start.
"Oh screw this." I get out and start walking home. I put my hands in my pockets and start walking down a narrow, dark alleyway. I take a deep breath in then out. When someone grabs me around my neck, and pulls me further into the dark. I start to scream and kick and bite when it wraps its hands around my neck firmer, hits me in the head with what feels like a rock and i slip slowly into darkness.
The last thing i see in a bright light and a pair of intriguingly beautiful green eyes.
