Aria was about to hit Mia when someone caught her hand, stopping her from doing so.
Aria turned around to see who it was. She was more than annoyed to see Jake, the most popular guy in the school, holding her hand harshly. She was more annoyed because he was defending Mia and less annoyed about the fact that Jake was bruising her hand.
She freed her hand from his tight grip and rubbed it to lessen the pain.
"Don't ever bully her again," Jake said in a tone that sent shivers down Aria's back, waving his phone in his hand. "Or I'll expose you." He threatened her. The phone was playing the video of Aria bullying Mia. This video being exposed could ruin Aria's image and she wouldn't like that.
Mia was still standing there trying to process all of the stuff that was happening. 'Why is Jake helping me? Why is he so mad?' All these questions were going around her mind. She was spacing out until she was snapped back into reality when Jake asked her if she was okay.
"Ya ya I-I'm fine. Thanks for helping me." Mia said giving Jake a small smile. "I owe you a lot." She added.
"You mean that night? Oh, it's nothing. Someone else would have done the same." Jake said with a smile.
"Anyways thank you. I should get to class. Bye." Mia left hastily.
The rest of the day was filled with people talking about Mia as she walked through the corridors of Beacon High. She didn't like the fact that people were talking about her but she couldn't stop them even if she wanted.
Mia had no friends. No one was caring enough to make her their friend. Mia didn't dare to have friends since she knew that if she had any, her mother would not let them live.
Jake tried to befriend her many times but she would just push him away because of her mother. She would talk to him very rudely to show that she doesn't need friends and that she is strong alone as well. But deep down she was more vulnerable and weak than anyone in the school.
After school, she was driven home by the driver.
At home, she was greeted by Michael and another guy whom Mia didn't recognize.
"Mia, you're home. Come sit. Meet Mr. Brown." Michael said as Mr. Brown got up and shook Mia's hand. "Mr. Brown is a therapist. I called him here because of your nightmares." Michael added.
Mia and Mr. Brown went up to Mia's room to have her first session.
"Mr. Brown, can I get you anything?" Mia asked as they settled down in her room.
"No, thank you. And you can call me George." He replied. "So tell me about your nightmares."
"Where should I start?" Mia asked.
"Let's start from what you see," George replied.
"I usually hear my mother threatening to kill the people around me and when I open my eyes to get out of the nightmare, I see her floating on top of the bed, looking at me with bloodshot eyes." Remembering this, sent shivers down Mia's back.
"Did your mother threaten you a lot before she went missing?" George asked.
"Yes. Whichever person tried to befriend me or come close to me, she would threaten to kill them." Mia said.
"Can you tell me about your childhood?" George asked.
Mia told him everything. Of course, excluding the part where her mother died. She even told him about the times she sees Alina although she is dead.
"Ok. Mia, I know your situation now. I am glad you opened up to me. And don't worry, all of this is just in your head. We will also get rid of the nightmares all right?" George asked getting a small nod in response.
That's it for this chapter.
Hope you liked it.
