In her Leash

Chapter 5

After dinner, Mia decided to have a shower before going to sleep. Just as she was bout to step inside the washroom, she heard a voice.

"I can't believe you decided to give us up." It was Alina. She had tears in her eyes. Crocodile tears.

"Do you think I was going to stay on your leash forever?" Mia said.

"Oh so you think by doing this you will get rid of that leash? Never! You will never be able to get rid of it!!" Alina replied.

Mia was gonna say something but she was cut off by Alina.

"Your hair is so pretty. Promise me never to cut it." Alina said in a voice that hypnotized Mia.

"I will never cut it, mom. Don't worry." Mia replied. She was hypnotized and would not remember this particular sentence.

"Good girl." 

Just then, she heard a knock on the door. 

Mia came back to reality. She didn't hear her mom anymore. She only remembered her mom telling her about never being able to get rid of the leash. She didn't remember the hair part. But her subconscious knew. She was not supposed to cut her hair.

"Come in," Mia said.

"Miss, here are the towels you asked for." One of the servants said as he came in and handed her the towels.

"Oh thank you," Mia said. She waited for the servant to leave before going inside.

The servant left the room and Mia went for a shower. She knew she was forgetting something but couldn't remember what. She was still wondering why she could hear her mother's voice despite her being dead. She was scared but she decided not to tell Michael this. 

After showering, she changed into her pajamas and went to sleep.

Mia was sleeping peacefully until she had a nightmare.

"Mia you made a mistake. You shouldn't have done what you did today. Now you have put another person in danger."

She quickly opened her eyes to stop the terrifying dream, just to see her mom right in front of her eyes. Alina was floating, looking at Mia with bloodshot eyes. Mia wanted to get up and run away but she couldn't move nor speak. She started to cry and sweat. She could only whimper with a little sound. Mia was sleep paralyzed.

Michael had come home and had dinner. He was passing Mia's room to go to his room. As he was passing, he heard Mia's whimpers. He quickly opened the door to see Mia lying down, not being able to move, staring at the ceiling, and crying. He ran up to her and made her sit up.

She finally was able to move. As she sat up, she screamed due to fear. Michael, without asking anything, pulled her into a hug to calm her down. Mia couldn't stop crying, she was terrified. Michael just stroked her back to calm her down. He was shocked to see her that way. 

Mia kept saying sorry to Michael and he kept asking why she was apologizing.

"I'm sorry I put you in danger," Mia said.

"Why are you sorry, honey? You didn't do anything." Michael said. He was really worried about her.

She was in no situation to explain anything, she was terrified. These nightmares were rare but whenever Mia got them, she would wake up with sweat and tears. She started having them after Alina's death. 

She was covered in sweat and was weeping. All the servants also heard her scream and they were huddled around Mia's room's door. The door was open so they were able to see them. One of the servants came into the room with a glass of water and handed it to Mia.

Mia gulped it down and decided to tell Michael everything.
