I'm back with a new book. This time I'm going to show you the many amazing, frightening and sometimes downright strange species that were lost to time.
There are so many creatures that once roamed planet Earth, our own little oasis in the vast expan...
The sun rises over the ancient Russian landscape, marking the beginning of a new day for the creatures.
A few sun rays penetrate the trees' foliage and shine down upon a strange looking creature. It looks like a Lizard, but it's covered in primitive fur. This is Fern, a fully grown female Suminia getmanovi.

Fern begins to open up her eyes as the warmth of the sun stirs her from her slumber. She lets out a yawn while stretching before climbing through the trees. Her hand-shaped feet act like hands, allowing her to grip and hold onto branches, making it easy for her to traverse the forested environment. She's also equipped with a long prehensile tail that doubles as an extra appendage and stabilizer. She is easily capable of jumping from tree to tree thanks to her powerful, elongated legs and flexible spine. All these traits makes her species perfectly adapted for an arboreal lifestyle. Despite her Mammalian traits, Fern is actually an Otsheridae, an ancient family of reptiles.
Fern crawls along the branch until she reaches the end, and ever so carefully, reaches her arms out and grabs the nuts before pulling it towards her mouth.
Her large leaf-shaped teeth make quick work of the tree's nut, easily slicing through it like scissors through paper.
Once she's finished eating, Fern climbs down the trunk of the tree and gets ready to go drink from the nearby stream.
But when she's half-way down the tree something catches her attention, there's movement within the undergrowth and it's heading towards her. Fern's muscles tense as she gets ready to scamper back into the treetops to safety.
But she soon relaxes when the creature shows itself to only be a Dvinia prima.

This fuzzy, 50 centimeter long animal is part of the clade of ancient reptiles known as Cynodontia, the distant ancestors to all modern day mammals.
Fern simply waits for the omnivorous creature to pass by the tree she's in before finishing the climb down. Once she's on the ground Fern tries her best to run towards the stream, but because her species has adapted specifically for an arboreal lifestyle, Suminias have a hard time walking on the ground.
