Hu Tao asked me to accompany her to the Lantern Rite Festival. "Hurry Y/n! There's something I wanna try over there!" She pulled me through the busy crowd. As I ran, I admired the bright lanterns that flew above us. Hu Tao ran off to grab us some food. As I waited, I saw a little girl running through the crowd holding a small lantern . "Qiqi! It's been a while." She ran over and gave me a small hug. "Y/n, Y/n, I got this for you!" She handed the little lantern to me. "It's so cute, thanks Qiqi!" Although the zombie couldn't smile, I could tell she was happy. I spoke with her for a few minutes before I heard a voice call out to me. "Y/n! Sorry I took so long. The lines were so long." Hu Tao sighed and held her hand out to give me some food she bought from a stall. At the sight of her, Qiqi quickly ran behind me. Hu Tao noticed and leaned forward with a smile on her face. "Have you finally decided to meet your fate little one?" Qiqi frowned. "Y/n protect me." She said in a monotone voice. "E-Eh?!"
After trying to separate the two, Qiqi said that she was going to see if she could get some coconut milk. Hu Tao and I said goodbye, although Hu Tao just continued to saying that one day she'll bury Qiqi. We continued to explore the festival and stopped by a performance from Xinyan. I was to busy watching her sing I didn't notice a certain someone behind me. "Y/n?" I felt a hand on my shoulder. I turned around and saw Zhongli as well as Childe standing beside him. "Good evening! Are you here to enjoy the festival?" I said. Childe nodded while snacking on sweets. "Where did you get that?!" I saw Hu Tao's eyes sparkle. "U-uh there's a stall not to far from here." He pointed somewhere and she immediately left. I chuckled quietly. She's such a child. Zhongli, Childe and I finished watching Xinyan's performance and we moved away from the crowd to wait for Hu Tao. We made small talk as we ate our food and watched as children ran around. It made me happy to see everyone around me happy. I wonder if Liang is here... Hu Tao finally came back with loads of sweets. She shoved them into our hands and smiled. "My treat!" She said happily. We all thanked her and continued to explore the festival.
I stretched my arms out and yawned. "I'm exhausted." "It's getting pretty late, guess we should go to. Hey Y/n, do you want me to walk you home?" Childe said. "Um Sure-" "I can walk you home if you'd like." Zhongli quickly interrupted. I blinked a few times and nodded slowly. "I don't see why not." Hu Tao giggled and whispered to me. "You to have fun." "H-hey what do you mean?!" She was already happily skipping away and I sighed.
As we walked home, the sky was filled with even more bright floating lanterns. From the corner of my eye, I could see Zhongli wearing a small smile across his face. He seems to really be enjoying this. I turned to face him. "Thanks for walking me home." "It isn't a big deal. It was fun spending time with you. I-I mean I also enjoyed being around everyone else-" He said with a small blush on his face. I chuckled. "Zhongli are you trying to flirt with me? You know I have a fiancé." I said slyly. "W-what no I'm not." He retorted. I grinned at him. "I appreciate you for being here for me. I didn't take you as a person who'd take time for others." He stopped walking and looked away. "Oh, did I say something wrong?" He sighed and continued to look away. "I know I shouldn't be asking this but... would you... like to go out sometime? I know you have a fiancé but, I truly enjoy being around you. I always feel at ease." I saw red hues covering his face. "I won't mind if you turn me down. After all, it's not my place to ask... Y/n?" I didn't respond. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know whether to accept. And I most certainly didn't expect to find love in my love. But being around Zhongli... has made me experience something I've never felt. I closed my eyes and faced him. "I'd love to."
