Part 16

Reader-Chans pov

"Hey Sasuke?" I call.

"Hn" he responds naturally.

"Why'd you choose me to go with you to get the wood? I mean you could have chosen one of the guys, I probably know why you didn't choose Karin but still." I ask what I've been thinking about as we've collecting thick branches, and long sticks.

"If I had brought one of the guys it was likely you and Karin would bump into eachother at the river. Since I wouldn't be around she'd take that as her opportunity to 'talk' to you." He explained.

"I can take care of myself." I defended

"No doubt, but 1 I need Karin at the moment and alive. And 2 you probably wouldn't think twice about killing her." He continued.

"You sure as hell got that right" I mumbled as I bent down to grab another stick. 

"Bark Bark Bark" Midori barked playfully around Sasuke's legs.

"Hey you think we can train Midori to be a ninja dog?" I asked Sasuke now.

Sasuke thought about for a second while we were walking and Midori barked. "Why not?"

"Awesome." I respond excited. "We could start his training tomorr—,"

"Not tomorrow. He'll be in your bag, resting as he should be, while we travel a long distance." He interrupted me.

"Alright" I give in. 

"We have enough, let's go back." Sasuke decides.

"What took you both so long!?" Karin immediately started her questioning but I remembered what Sasuke said, about how he doesn't want us fighting.

So I close my mouth if the nasty response I know I was going to say and instead out my hand up to silence her. 

Sasuke looks at me from the corner of his eye and I walk away from Karin's blow up she was having about what I had done, to throw our branches in the middle of our make-shift camping grounds for the night.

Sasuke throws his share on top of mines as Midori comes over to snuggle against me as I sit against a tree.

Sasuke then used once of fire balls and starts the fire for us while Jugo starts the cooking,

Sasuke looks over at me and Midori and was about to walk to toward his sleeping bag, when Midori barked. He probably wanted to play but it was too late, and almost time to rest. 

Midori barks again so I pet him this time, but then he makes whimpering noises and I get worried. Sasuke comes over and gets on his crouches down in front of us. "Everything okay with Midori?" Sasuke whispered.

Midori suddenly stopped whimpering and got out from our snuggle to snuggle with Sasuke. I literally choked on my saliva. 

"Really!?" I whisper yelled at Midori while Sasuke just chuckled lowly.

"He just wanted me." He acknowledged out loud to tease me.

"Nooo, did he really" I say sticking my tongue out childishly. 

Sasuke stood up to walk to his sleeping bag with Midori in his arms. But Midori started whimpering again.

I stood up to check for any wounds this time. But as soon as I stood Midori barked and licked my face, wagging his tail.

I look up at Sasuke "I think he wants both of us." I say. 

Sasuke looks up at me then down at Midori and sits down against the tree I was a second ago. I sigh and sit down next to him. 

I smile at Midori and out his ear and he barks and wags his tail some more. I giggled at my cute little puppy, and Sasuke plays with Midori fur gently. Midori turns around a few times and lays down in Sasukes lap, tired I'm guessing. 

I watch him for a while, just smiling as Sasuke doing the same.
