What do you think makes you you?

~*~

Opening your eyes, you find yourself floating in void, with only a mirror in sight across the never ending room.

"Where am I?"

With only a mirror to distract yourself, you floated away towards the lone furniture. Slowly inching closer and closer, fingertips reaching out desperately, with no idea of sorts. A fiery resolve to look in the mirror reverberating inside you, like a fire ceasing to be put out. Signifying your existence along with the mirror.

A sudden ringing of a phone disrupted your advances and made you snap your head and try to find the sudden blaring noise.

"It sounds like a phone?"

Finding clues on about the mysterious sound, listening intently, the noise supposedly louder in its originating location, the even distribution of the sound waves further makes you baffled. For a few minutes, it kept ringing nonstop, morphing to louder, alarming and frenzied ringing. You found yourself starting to inhale uneven breaths, thoughts mindlessly running in and out your mind. The reality of such loneliness and darkness encasing your being slowly. Hands slapping your ears shut, proving to be pointless as the ringing still slept in and sent your being in a turmoil. Desperately seeking for silence.

"stop"

"Stop"

"Stop!"

"STOP!"

"JUST SHUT UP!!"

Disoriented, alone, and desperate, your eyes darted everywhere, the color black filling your vision. The moment your eyes found themselves immersed in the mirror, the deafening audio halting to an end, and so was your line of thoughts. Moving closer, you saw a reflection. Light from an unknown source restricting the sight yet.

Closer.

You see a silhouette of a person.

Closer.

H/c hair in a white dress slowly is being visible in your eyes.

CLOSER.

With only a few inches separating your face and the surface of the mirror, you squinted your eyes.

C̶̢̢͚̘̮̬̜̣̫͇̿́̎̓̈́̕l̵̢͚̣̗̼̩̥̰̲͉̘̒Ơ̴͖͈̜̟̦̫̖̈́̽͊̀̌̽́š̴̠̜̯͈͓̻̘̠̝̽͐̇̓̆̑͋̚E̴̜̺̣̖͌͛͋͛̕Ŗ̷̢͚̬̳͎̲̩̞̜̓̓̌͑̊̽̓͑͗͌͒̅̀̚͘.̶͇̰̽ͅ

An empty face.

A body like yours.

A reflection of YOU.

Jumping out of fright and away from the faceless entity still gazing at you with its non existent eyes made cold shiver slowly inching upwards your spine. Scrambling away, floating, running, tripping, with all four actions you did as you expanded the distance between the lone furniture in the void.

THATS NOT ME!

Tears all clogged up and overlapped by the intense fear that prompted your adrenaline to go haywire inside your veins. Heart pumping blood the fastest it can get, fatigue clouded by the unnerving instinct to just RUN.

Catching up footsteps trailing and matching yours, you can't help yourself to look back. And boy, was it something you should have never done.

At your back, instead of a teen doppelganger of you, instead, a smaller and younger you, is reaching out, head inclined towards your face. Despite the smaller version, the being behind you is as scary and as unnerving, no, MORE terrifying and ominous as the one in the mirror.

"STAY AWAY! "

"(Y/N), don't you remember me?"

The voice of a little girl coming from all sides made the room seem colder, despite the never ending marathon, you still felt chills as it seems the supposed to be innocent whisper have a presence that seemed much more bigger, more sinister... than the never ending black room you had been desperately running from.

"No! NO! Just please, leave me alone!"

"(Y/N), don't leave me alone"

'What..? '

Losing momentum, your heart suddenly was filled and burdened with unknown guilt. The clacking as metal hit metal was not enough to break you out of your petrified and flabbergasted phase. Robbing you of your senses temporarily, with such 5 words, the way you perceived the room you are in seemed to turn around completely. It wasn't scary anymore... centering around the little child, the atmosphere turned melancholic. Questioning your actions...why would you want to run at the first place?

'Why would you say that...?'

The adrenaline once coursing and pumping you of unlimited energy coming to a halt and left you numb. Mind beyond frozen and slow as you took in the past actions of the little you. If this was truly her domain, and if she truly wanted to hurt you, why didn't she already?

As soon as you stopped running, as if mirroring your actions, the small girl in front of you also stood grounded in front of you, still with her arms up, open wide and welcoming in you. Now that both of you had stopped the chase, you can finally examine her face.

'Am I the one leaving you all alone this time?'

"Who are you exactly...?"

Slithering further, the chains finally clamped unto both your ankles, instead of stopping you to run away, it seemed as if it was instead protecting the small child, from no other than YOU.

Slowly and gracefully, tears run wild from the little child's void orbs that have the same hue as your (e/c)'s ones.

"Please... come back (Y/N)! Don't forget me!" Sniffles turned to sobs, hands still suspended in the air. With no free hands, the tears and her anguished face was fully shown towards you.

'Why are you crying?'

With her eyes gazing at you intently, and instead of the chill travelling up your spine, you find yourself bubbled up of warm feelings the longer you gazed at her. As if she was the other half of you.

Looking at her outstretched arms, you finally have a hint on what she had always wanted.

It was never to hurt you.

The rattling of chains added to the melody of her sobs as you took one step,

Two...

Three...

Four, five...

Six, seve-

She was only a few feet in front of you, your foot was never able to take the seventh step. Looking back, the you finally took note of the chains secured around your ankles. Following the metal, it seemed it was fully stretched and stops you from getting closer. Snapping your head towards the girl. You find yourself eyeing the very same chains making her rooted at her spot.

"Please don't reject me (Y/N)!"

"Please don't leave me alone (Y/N)! I'm scared!"

"NO! (Y/N)! Please! I AM-"

One second, you find yourself reaching up your hands towards her to at least provide the quivering girl some comfort, and in a snap of a finger, all you could hear was the screams of the little you, as her form slowly turned into a dot, the chains pulling you towards the opposite side from her, your chest face down towards the ground. Your eyelids heavy, as your last vision was the view of your hand reaching out, and the last sound you heard was your whispers only heard by the wind.

'Who are you?'
