close call

Gura's pov

I've ran and hid in a dumpster. Not the best place and I'm certainly not staying here but for now this is the best I've got. Maybe I can stay at Ame's house. I forgot to ask her where she lives though. I can't go home because in order to do that I have to go into public places. Ame specifically told me to stay away from public places. I guess I'll have to stay here for a while.

Watson's pov

Doctor: Your surgery is scheduled for later tonight.

Watson: Sounds good to me.

The doctor leaves the room. I look out the window. Is Gura hiding in a dumpster? I can clearly see her poking her head out. That dork.

It's very likely that the person that shot me is the same person that did the murder at the beach. He probably did it to frame Gura.

I should get some rest, I'm tired. Hopefully things work out. I'm really happy to see Gura again but I don't want to see her in jail or prison. This might be my toughest case yet. I close my eyes and drift off to sleep.

Gura's pov

It's now night. I've been hiding in here for a few hours. It's pretty silent. Besides the people going in and out of the hospital, there's really no one around. I get out of the dumpster. Now I stink but at least I'm safe. I'll go to the beach again. There should be no one there at this time.

I walk five minutes to the beach. It was pretty close. I sit in the sand and look at the ocean. How did I get myself into this mess? I wish things would go back to how they used to be. Back when the five of us would stream on YouTube together. I never really cared about the fame, I mostly cared about those four. I hear something behind me. I quickly turn around.

Hooded figure: Found you.

Crap! I stand up.

Gura: leave me alone!

Hooded figure: I'm afraid I can't do that. I've been looking for you. After I'm done with you I'll wait for Watson. You two will meet again very soon.

He has a knife. He starts walking towards me.

Hooded figure: It'll be over soon.

Gura: As if!

I run to the right, alongside the edge, just barely stepping into the water. I look behind me and scream. He's catching up and fast! He's faster than me! He tackles me and pins me to the floor.

Gura: Let go!

Hooded figure: goodbye.

He swings his knife. This is the end for me. I'm sorry Watson, I couldn't do it. I wait for the knife to strike. It doesn't. Why isn't he stabbing me? I look up and gasp. I couldn't be more happy to see you!

Calli's pov

I made it to the city. It was a long trip having to come here all the way from Japan but hey, it was worth it. Now, I go to pinetree mall. The only problem is I've never been here so I'll have to ask for directions. I ask for directions and end up at pinetree mall. It's closed though. There's police here too. I guess they're still checking for evidence. Well I know where it is. I'll check back tomorrow.

I don't know what to do now though. I guess I'll just walk around the city. I wonder what Kusotori is up to. I haven't seen her since everything changed.

Gura's pov

Gura: Ina!

Ina: Hey Gura!

She smiles while holding the guy's arms with her tentacles.

Ina: Just a second Gura.

She squeezes his arm enough to make him drop the knife. She then uses one of her tentacles to punch him in the stomach, knocking him unconscious and lets him go.

I stand up and hug Ina. She couldn't have had better timing. I was about to die there! She hugs back. I'm really happy.

Ina: Are you okay?

Gura: My back hurts a little from being tackled but I'm fine.

Ina: Good!

We let go of each other.

Gura: How did you get here?

Ina: Well I was wandering around the country just visiting random places because I still have a lot of money left from being a Vtuber, when I saw on the news that Ame got shot at pinetree mall. I was close to this city anyway so I decided to go pay a visit!

Gura: But how did you find me?

Ina: Well I was wandering around the city looking for pinetree mall when I ended up close to the beach. I heard a scream that sounded familiar so I looked and saw what was happening. Of course I couldn't just let you get stabbed and die right in front of me.

Gura: Well I guess this solves everything. We can turn him into the police!

Ina: Yeah!

We hear a gunshot. He got shot in the head! But from where?!

Ina: Huh?!

Gura: We can think about this later for now let's get out of here!

We run back to the city.

Ina: Where are you staying?

Gura: I don't have anywhere to stay but my house and its a bit far from here!

Ina: We'll stay at a hotel than!

We rush towards a public place and hide in the crowd. We then go to a hotel and get a room.

Watson's pov

Doctor: Miss Watson, it's time for your surgery. Please wake up.

I slowly open my eyes.

Watson: Alright.

Doctor: We'll perform the surgery in here. You'll be on anesthesia soon.

Watson: Okay. Thank you doctor.

Doctor: We'll be with you shortly.

I look out the window and at the dumpster again. Gura's not in there anymore. I hope she's alright. I have confidence that I'll catch him. A lot of people are in danger.

The doctor walks in with some nurses and a machine.

Doctor: This machine will give you the anesthesia.

They put a mask that's connected to the matchine on my face. Everything slowly starts to fade to black.
