Chapter Three: Humans are Monsters

Zoey swung her legs as she sat patiently in the office, her heart was beating fast and her hands were starting to get clammy. She wrung her skirt, her hands twisting the fabric as sweat dripped down her head. Bob Roth was a powerful man and he was known for his rude attitude and ferocious insults. But Zoey was a strong person and she could handle a few insults that were thrown her way. But she had spent years working on the script, she had rough drafted it, rewritten it and trashed it, rebuilt it then added to it. It was a mess but Zoey had done it, she had collected all the pieces and pasted them together to create a beautiful mystical story. Now she just needed the script to be okayed by a Sponsor, and who was the man that had the most famously known Tv series and money to create as he pleased?

Zoey had spent weeks with the help of her new friend Marinette to gather up the courage to go to the interview and impress Bob Roth. She smiled to herself at the thought of Marinette and her new friend group. Zoey had always been a loner who would usually keep to herself and write stories. So it must have been a blessing when Mrs. Mendeleiev approached her with concern about her not having many friends and her failing grades in class. She was then assigned to work with Marinette Dupain-Cheng and some other kids.

Marinette Dupain-Cheng! The most beloved and most popular girl in the whole school! The girl that all the guys have asked out! The girl that looked like the gods had carved her themselves! Adrien Agreste's friend! Jagged Stones personal designer! Clara Nightingale's adopted daughter!

She was horrified to find out about it and even protested but her physics teacher showed her her grades and they were really low. So in order to save her grades, she sucked it up and prepared to be greeted by insults and become Marinette's personal slave like she had when she was partnered up with Chloe. To say the least, she was shocked when the pigtailed girl gave her a warm smile, a hug, and kind encouraging words. Zoey for a while thought it was fake until Marinette and the moon-obsessed girl invited her to hang out at Marinette's place. There she learned that Marinette was holding a study group of kids that needed help and that is where she met her new and close friends.

Marinette helped her through her anxiety and fear and she was not going to let her down!

"Ahem, Mrs. Swan, Mr. Roth will see you now." Zoey stood up, clutching the folder full of papers she smiled and took a deep breath. Then walked into the office.

Walking into the lion's den.

The stairs were like stepping stones to death, at least that's what it felt like for Marinette. Allegra's warning rang in her ears, echoing at any chance it got.

Lila had caused chaos while she was gone?

Marinette was scared to learn what she meant by that. Along with that something bad was going to happen today she could just feel it in her bones, something terrible was going to happen and Marinette knew it would not be good. "Princess? Are you alright?" Serena's concerned voice brought Marinette out of her thoughts and Marinette snapped her head up to see Serena reaching out to Marinette. Marinette plastered her fake smile on and connected her hand with Serena's, "Ah don't worry Serena I will be fine, I just pray I make it through the day." Hopefully, she won't have to fight an Akuma since her new magic is still adjusting to her body.

"Marinette! Your back!" Marinette flinched as Adrien's body grabbed onto her and hugged her. Spinning her in his arms. "Sun Prince! Be careful my precious Moon Princess is still fragile!" Serena called out as Adrien smiled and a dizzy Marinette melted in his arms. "Oh right sorry Mari! I almost forgot that you were sick." Marinette's head was spinning as Adrien, still holding her, stopped spinning. "Wait you knew I was sick?" Adrien nodded and Serena giggled, "The first day you were gone he came over and asked if you were okay, he didn't even last one class without you." Adrien flinched and his model face turned into a bright red blush, he released Marinette. "Haha haha, I have no idea what you're talking about Serena!" Adrien said and Marinette was very confused at why Adrien was acting like this, he was usually more put together, she shrugged it off.
