"Fake Assurance"
"I gotta go, Ma." I said to my mother who's busy doing the dishes.
Napahinto siya sa ginagawa at sumulyap sa akin. "Ikaw lang?" she eyed me suspiciously.
I cleared my throat. "A-Ahm susunduin ko pa syempre si Eunice, Ma." she nodded. I kissed her forehead before I finally left.
I sighed in my car, when she wasn't answering my call. Tulog pa yata siya. And probably she'll have hangover later.
It saddened me when my fiancee cannot come with me today. But it's okay, I'm sure I can do it alone.
My mood was lifted when I finally arrived. I was greeted by the employees of the resort.
"Mr. Ramirez!" the wedding organizer greeted me. He was my closest friend way back in college.
"Vick"
"Ano ka ba? Vicky sabi eh." he said in a small girly voice which made me laugh. Well, he's gay.
He looked around and I noticed his confused face.
"I'm alone. S-She can't come because she's tired from partying with her friends last night."
"Ahuh" I just shrugged at her. Napailing na lang siya at kalaunan ay tumango. Pilit na sumangyon sa sinabi ko.
I know that he was disappointed and I can't blame him. Not attending the location and the preparation of your own wedding is a dismay, right?
Hindi ko rin naman mapipilit si Eunice, mahal ko eh. Tsaka she's just enjoying her time before she finally be wedded.
Hapon na nang makapagpahinga ako dahil sa mga preparations. Even though she's not here, I know she will love every single details of our wedding. I know her taste well and mostly who help to prepare everything were trusted friends, kaya magugustuhan niya talaga.
I'm staring at the waves with a smile. Ikakasal na kami ni Eunice five days from now. After five years, I will finally get what I want for the both of us.
My smile faded when I saw a familiar man. He was looking at my direction. I become bothered when he smirked and nonchalantly turned his back, walking away from me.
No, impossible. I'm shaking my head when Vick called me for dinner. Right, imposible talaga yung iniisip ko. No one will ever destroy my dream family again.
Nagkakayayaan silang doon muna magstay sa resort. Nag-aya rin silang mag-inuman kaya kahit ayaw ko hindi ako nakahindi. Paunti-unti lang din ang inom ko dahil may plano akong umuwi.
Napuno ng asaran ang aming kuwentuhan. They talked how Eunice and I met and how we ended with each other. Nakangiti lang ako habang pinapakinggan sila at hindi maitago ang excitement sa pag-uwi. I miss her and I love her so much.
It's past midnight nang ramdam ko na may tama na ang karamihan.
"But Gelo wala ka bhang napapanshin?" napatawa ako ng mahina nang halos matumba na si Vick sa pagtayo habang nakaturo pa sakin ang kanyang darili.
His eyes widen. "I think I'm not the only one notiching it...but s-she's...she's not excchited as you are." he blacked out after he said that. Napatingin ako sa iba at sabay-sabay silang nag-iwas ng paningin sa akin. Pansin din pala nila. I just sighed at that.
