Y/n's POV:
It was almost 2am when I left my room, creeping into the dark hallway to go down the stairs to the kitchen. I should've been asleep hours ago, but the anxiety of worrying for Tommy and being in an unfamiliar place kept me awake.
At least now, I don't have to worry about having nightmares.
The soft moonlight from the windows was the only source of light in the dark hall, until I came across a door that had a faint glow emitting from underneath. I frowned when I realized that the room belonged to Techno, meaning that he hadn't gone to sleep yet either.
I shrugged it off, continuing to tiptoe down the hall until I reached the stairs. I paused, weighing whether to risk making noise by walking down the steps or to slide down the banister silently. I chose the banister, positioning myself so that I could hold on as I slid down.
Instead of jumping off like an idiot, I got off the banister and walked down the final couple of steps. I set the small flame on the counter and reached into one of the many cabinets to grab a glass, filling it with water. I flinched at the soft yet loud noise that could easily be heard in the dead silence of the early morning.
A/n: I swear, noise at night is so loud! It's really annoying...
I slowly lifted the glass to my lips and tipped it up. The water soothed my dry throat and I sighed in content. I let my thoughts fill the long silence.
"What are you still doing awake?"
The voice snapped me out of my thoughts and I flinched so hard that I barely managed to keep a hold on the glass. My head snapped in the direction of the monotone voice.
A shadowed figure leaned on the banister of the stairs. I could feel my heart pound in my chest and my breaths were quick and shallow from the sudden scare.
"Calm down it's just me," Techno said, putting his hands up in mock surrender. He spoke in a hushed tone as not to wake the others. "So, why are you still awake?"
I took a couple deep breaths and set the glass down. "I just can't sleep."
He hummed, pushing off the banister and grabbing a glass for himself.
"Why are you still awake?" I asked softly, genuinely curious.
Techno took a sip of water before responding. "Insomnia. I don't sleep very often anyways."
My eyebrows scrunched together in concern. It was odd how I was concerned for him when I do the same thing almost every night.
I nodded in understanding then realized that he probably couldn't see me in the darkness and mentally facepalmed.
My eyes were downcast as I bit my lip, uncomfortable in the awkward silence.
"Since we're both up, wanna pass time by talking and getting to know each other?" Techno was leaning on the counter, his long, pink hair pulled into a loose braid.
"Sure, but can we talk somewhere else?"
Techno took another sip of water. "Mhm. Lead the way kid."
A smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I climbed the stairs as quiet as possible. I listened to Techno's footsteps as I led him into my room and onto the balcony.
I stood on the balcony railing and used it to boost myself onto the roof.
"Well that was interesting. I didn't know that you knew how to climb," Techno stated flatly, sounding mildly impressed and following shortly after.
