Y/n's POV:
I watched the sunrise from my place on the roof, letting my shoulders relax. I took a deep breath and slid off the roof, balancing on the banister before jumping down silently.
I walked through my room and into the hallway, slid down the banister, and jumped to the floor. Phil was already making breakfast and Techno was reading in a large chair in the living room. A pile of books were stacked beside him, probably already finished.
Phil noticed me first. "Good morning, Y/n!"
I smiled softly, taking a deep breath of the cooking food and my smile grew. Walking into the living room, I sat on the couch and picked up a book with a plain black cover from the stack.
Techno briefly glanced up, before looking back at his book. Now that I was closer, dark circles were visible beneath his eyes.
I lowered my voice to a whisper before asking, "Didn't get much sleep?"
A slight incline of his head confirmed my thoughts. I could tell that he wasn't reading the book because his eyes weren't tracing the words. They had stayed glued to one spot in the book, as if he was lost in thought.
My eyebrows furrowed slightly. "You seem to have a lot on your mind. Would you like to talk about it?"
His eyes widened a minuscule amount before returning to his blank expression.
"I'm just thinking about random things."
I hummed, not totally convinced but deciding not to press further. I opened the book I had grabbed and started reading.
Techno's POV:
I had to give it to her, the kid is perceptive. She was quick to notice small things that not even Phil or Wilbur would catch. In truth, I did have a lot on my mind. The biggest thing being our family friends visiting.
They weren't coming all at once because Phil and I decided that it would be too overwhelming for the kids considering they just got settled in. It was decided that they would come in pairs and a couple days would separate their visits. Once the kids get used to them, they will most likely visit more often.
I put the book I wasn't reading down and stood up. Out of the corner of my eye I see Y/n glance up from her book before returning to reading.
"Breakfast is ready!" Phil calls, plating the food. "Y/n, please go wake Tommy and Wilbur."
I noted that she tensed and bit her bottom lip at the mention of Tommy. It was oddly suspicious and sort of worrying.
Nevertheless, she marked her page, closed the book, and hurried upstairs. I shook it off, headed towards the table, and sat down in front of my plate.
"Have you noticed that neither of the kids are eating much," I asked quietly.
Phil's expression became serious, something that rarely happens. "Yeah, I did. However, it might just be that they don't normally have three full meals a day and are not used to it yet. We can't jump to any conclusions."
I nodded, closing my eyes.
Incoming footsteps alerted both of us of the kids and Wilbur coming down the stairs, putting a halt to our conversation. Wilbur, Y/n, and Tommy each took a seat. I noticed the small grimace Tommy made when he saw the food. Phil's expression said that he saw it too.
I watched as Y/n reached behind him and rubbed his back in comforting circles without looking at him. My expression softened at the interaction. It reminded me of Wilbur and I's relationship when we were younger. I glanced at Phil who had a soft smile on his face.
