chapter 15 : aftermath

Sacrifice ... it's one thing that Klaus was familiar of the most , he had done it once already in the sake of his curiosity and dreams , and now he's willing to do it again for the sake of his best friend .

After all , the pyramid of human sacrifice he made at the beginning was truthful in some places

"are you ready to make a choice ? " asked the sandman calmly with a big grin showing victoriously upon his face

Klaus took some time to think the last thoughts , he raised his head and looked the sandman directly in his eyes in a daring way announcing his readiness ,

"alright then , I'll give you ten seconds this time ... choose the door you prefer " stated the sandman , he flipped the hourglass again and two huge doors of sand appeared just in front of him the way they did the first time , Quest ... and Nowhere ...

Each second that falls down from the ten , Klaus finds himself in a different place of struggle on earth , the first one , the two world wars , he stood right there in the middle of a battlefield where heads and bits of torn bodies flew along with a flood of blood ,

the Chechens ...

North Korea...

Vietnam...

malnourishment in south Africa

The gulf war...

Hiroshima...

Syria...

and then .. his own country ...

in those ten seconds , everything was silent , yet the images spoke loudly , sandman was obviously trying to let them talk to him , as if this world really needs someone , it needs him ...

after these ten seconds , he found himself in a huge hallway ,the ceiling was too high and it was filled with poles and arches , people ,strangers were walking around and passing by where light came through both ends of the huge hallway ,

"so , what's it going to be ? " asked the sandman patiently

Klaus kept a firm silence , he walked slowly to a door , held the knob and slowly turned it open and light came forging through the edges , he opened it wide until white light was the only thing to be seen ...

" check mate ..." he whispered to himself .

Ed , in the real world , unfortunately was also caught , the police car glanced him as he was trying to sneak into a nearby window , he blamed Roy and stated that he made him steal the body and hide it , and that he threatened him and his family if he didn't obey him ... Ed didn't do that out of treason , Roy told him to blame everything that attached him to this case on him if they ever were caught while they were planning in the study room , because he was the one to involve Ed in this mess truly , this was all a plan B if they were caught that they discussed among other things while sitting in the study room , he made Ed give him his word that he'd do exactly what he told him to do and actually threatened him if he didn't !

So Ed got away with it , increasing the number of years on Roy , but what was more unfortunate was that Klaus's body was returned only this time to the police morgue who were persistent to find the reason why Roy stole it , and why was it so important to him . One opinion that got out of the investigation room was that Roy tried to hide stolen money or jewelry or even drugs inside the body ! , another opinion stated that Roy had some physiological issues and couldn't handle the death of his brother -like best friend .
