chapter 18 : the biggest mistake

Among all the set of answers Roy had given in his life , this particular one didn't seem quite wrong nor its seemed to be quite  right as well , he considered approving on Klaus's offer to be some sort of a stall , even though that might make him a liar if he failed to convince Klaus to reconsider his plans , but Roy feels rather confident  for he has always been a good talker , and the moment that he found Klaus a bit hesitated about jumping from the building earlier is nothing but a proof  on how persuasive Roy can be , at least this is what he thought..   

And from that point , Roy stayed up all night thinking of the right sentences and the right things to say , even when he was at the exam the next morning , he was absent minded checking his phone from underneath the desk every now and then for Klaus might be calling at any minute , he tried as hard as he can to answer any question from the paper but kept hitting a dead end at each one of them , maybe this is the first time he really didn't care whether he passes or not , because something bigger was going on that made these exams rather pointless … however, he wanted to make his mother proud …

The supervisor who happened to be the same professor of the material stood just above his shoulder , possibly looking at his paper  , " ah , what an embarrassment ! " thought Roy to himself , because all that he wrote on his paper was scratched many times turning the limited square answer boxes into a complete ink mess  ,

Suddenly , his phone rang … goose pumps that ran through his hands and spine each time the phone rings nowadays  became a mere thing ,

"can timing be any better !! "  he angrily sighed ,  " I have to take this call ! "  he persisted , because he was waiting for this call since last night when Klaus hung up shortly after Roy's answer , but if he gets out now , he will never come back to finish his test for the sake of the rules , but Klaus may never call again , and it's strange that Roy can't redial or call back for there are no numbers on the screen , only a black screen with the answer or reject to slide ,and with certain kind of frightening noise and flickers ,

He found himself in a critical situation , and the other students around him started to show annoyance to the sound of Roy's phone vibration , he looked back and up at the professor to check if he was also annoyed but he found him smiling ! he turned his head with despair then looked back again at the professor and said  " I … I have to take this "  pointing at his phone ,

The professor smiled even more , what a strange reaction to make at a serious situation like this ! thence he snatched Roy's paper , clicked his pen and wrote something pretty fast leaning it on the wall , Roy knew it was an F , but just before he stood up accepting this hideous fact ,   the professor slammed the paper back at his desk with a shimmering A+ on it !!

Roy's mind was struck , he gazed at it trying to believe it , he looked at the professor with an obvious exclamation mark on his face .. " go get that call "  he said to Roy a moment after .

Roy got out feeling nothing but puzzled , he hastily answered the phone  

" how's that A+ ? "

" wh.. you had something to do with is ! ,  I knew it !  you sent him a dream or something didn't you ? "

" well .. not one , a round 15 repeated ones , that guy is a tough nut to crack "

" Klaus !! I .. I didn't want … "  sighed Roy at the end of his incomplete sentence , he calmed himself down for a moment then calmly rearranged his sentence  "I didn't want to pass anything by cheating ! or any other way other than my own effort ! "

" pfff com'on ! you didn't study last night for a noble reason , now how cruel would the world be if it let you fail ??  how cruel would I be not paying you back for standing with me ?  we are heroes now we don’t have time for the regular everyday nonsense we once drugged ourselves with thinking that someday it would make a difference , heroes need a break from that "
