With the help of her friends, the first two years at Hogwarts flew by for Alice. She was so excited to come back the following year that she wouldn't shut up about it to her foster parents and she would write weekly letters to Daphne and Hermione through the summer months, sometimes even more. Not only did she love the people she had found at the magic school, but she also loved the subjects they were taught there. She learnt that she was very good at potions, although she was a bit intimidated by their teacher, Severus Snape. He had shown some kind of favouritism towards her since the very first day. Of course, he showed partiality to any Slytherin student, especially Malfoy. But he was different to her, it was starting to make Alice uneasy. Nevertheless, although she enjoyed making potions, what she found out to be keen on was healing. This realization was in part thanks to Hermione. She had been hanging out a lot with Ron and Harry, who were always in the middle of something. Harry had been in the hospital wing more times than the average Hogwarts student by the time they had ended their second year. Alice would always check on him, helping whenever she could, and Madam Pomfrey had already told her she had a lor of potential at being a healer. In their second year, a basilisk broke loose in the school and started petrifying pupils. Alice was the one who suggested using Mandrake's juice to stew Restorative Draught to restore those who had been cursed. The monster was defeated thanks to Harry's help, but a lot of people congratulated her for her idea for the petrified, and although she hadn't killed a giant snake, she was pretty glad about herself.

What's more, Alice was very proud of how she had changed. Her Slytherin mates still mocked and pushed her around at times, but she had started to defend herself. Every time Pansy Parkinson or Draco Malfoy said something about her muggle parents or about her not fitting in the Slytherin house, Alice would return fire or at least ignore them. She knew that they weren't worth her time. What they said were all lies, and she was too smart to believe them.

So, with her new attitude and her new set of close friends, Alice's time in Hogwarts was nothing but wonderful. What she didn't anticipate, was all the trouble she was going to be put through in the years to come.
