"I'm starting to regret it." Said Alice while picking up the skirt of her dress so as not to tangle her feet when she went down the hall stairs. Daphne, on the other hand, was counting on Cassius's help to get down, leaving Alice aside. Warrington had been such a gentleman, picking Daphne up in their dorm room and leaving the Slytherin house together. As for Alice's date, Harry had told her to meet him in the dance. The whole thing already felt ridiculous and she couldn't help but feel unconfident about it. "I shouldn't have said yes to Harry."

"Don't be silly, Alice." Her friend told her with a slight scolding tone. What she had actually wanted to say was 'You're not going back now', but she wasn't going to do that as long as Cassius was around. "We all will have fun, right?"

"Damn right." Her date agreed with a nod.

As the trio approached the entrance to the Great Hall, a few heads started turning in their direction. Alice turned hers as well to figure out what everyone was staring at.

"They are looking at you, Prince." Said Cassius while leaning a bit closer to Alice. She looked at him with widened eyes. They weren't actually looking at her, right? "I must say, you look stunning tonight." He confessed, earning a scowl from her, and making him add something else to fix it. "Of course, not as stunning as you, dear."

Alice couldn't stop a shy smile from emerging on her face. Cassius's compliment had made her night quite brighter. The girl, feeling much better, met Harry's gaze, who had come out of the Great Hall in search of her. "Whoa, Alice." He babbled. "You look beautiful."

"Thanks, Harry." Making her grin bigger, she returned his flattering remark. "You don't look bad yourself." Right after that she noticed Ron, standing behind Harry, who seemed to be wearing clothes from a few centuries ago. "Wish I could say the same..."

"Hey, do you know who Hermione's coming with?" He ignored her comment. Alice shook her head no. Actually, Hermione hadn't said anything about the ball apart from how pissed she was that Ron wouldn't ask her as a first option since they were friends. Next to him was Padma Patil, his date. She hadn't been as lucky as her sister, who had been asked by a Durmstrang boy. "Why do you think she wouldn't tell us?" Ron continued.

She shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know, but I'm sure she had a very good reason not to tell you."

Suddenly, Professor McGonagall approached the entire group, although her attention was focused on Harry and Alice. "There you are, Potter. Are you and Miss Prince ready?"

Both teens shared a look, as they had no idea of what the older lady was talking about. "Ready, Professor?"

"To dance!" She said briskly. Alice and Harry looked as if they had seen a dementor. "lt's traditional that the three champions – well, in this case, four, – are the first to dance. Surely l told you that..."
