A LIFE THATS GOOD

Chapter 8

I woke up hearing strange noises and it seemed it came from my kitchen. I quickly ran down the stairs to go check.
"where the hell is the spatula" i heard Sam asking herself. A wave of relief washed over me.
"good morning how are you feeling?" i asked tryinv to contain my laugh.
"i can't find the spatula" she said not answering my question.
"Sam its hanging right above your head" i said.
"my head is throbing like a drummer boy is practicing in my head and good morning." she answered looking like a wreck. "Go sit down I'll finish up here" i said. I saw that she started to make a omlet so i continued flipping it over and putting the bacon and cheese inside when i was almost finished with hers i put the coffee on and poured both of us a cup.
"thanks" she said. I can see she doesn't look well so i tild her she must go take a hot bath and go back to sleep.
"im sorry im such a buzzkill this morning" she said with a sadness in her voice. "its okay honestly while you take a nap I'll go for a jog, i feel like i need it after all the pizza i ate last night." i said with a laugh.
"okay but when you come back i want full details about last night" she said with a serious note. I got dressed into my jogging clothes and decided to go for a run along the water it was the perfect morning the clouds were in the skye but it wasn't hot and not too cold. "Cassie, Cassie" someone was calling me. I immediately turned around to see who was calling me then i saw the blonde guy it was Chase.
"good morning Chase" i said with a smile. "morning Cas you got that music blaring hey i called you like five times before you turned around" he said a little out of breath. "im sorry i was a little out of it thinking about everything, what's up?" i asked trying to avoid him asking any questions what i was thinking about.
"i wanted to talk but i saw you running past our house and decided to join you, if i had known that you would jog so far i would've just followed you in my car" he said a little sheepishly. "stalker much, what do you want to talk about theres a coffee shop just down the road if you would like to take a break and talkci said with a smile.
" yeah sure that will be great"he said shyly. I knew what he wanted to talk about but i wasn't ready for hearing what a mistake the kiss was so i was hoping he would change his mind while we walked to the coffee shop. I got my usual triple espresso no milk and one sugar and Chase got him a cupochino, we then went to go sit by a booth thats a little secluded. "this place is amazing so retro and as soon as we walked in i could smell the coffee" i said trying to break the silence. "yeah its cool, so listen i wanted to talk about last night" he exhaled seems like he was a bit worried about how i would react.
"Chase don't worry about it you were just trying to comfort me" i said with a smile that didn't quite reach my eyes  but hoping he doesn't see it.
"It's the total opposite of that Cassie I've wanted to kiss you for a while now and i know its wrong because your my sisters best friend, but when i saw you there so upset i wanted to take you in my arms and make you feel better." he said with a slight smile. My heart just did a double flip at his words, but i have to tell him it cannot happen again.
" Chase the kiss can't happen again"i said as bluntly as possible.
"i know it can't happen again Cas and that's what's driving me crazy tl, the fact that i might not be able to do it again." he said and i could see the hurt in his eyes.
"im sorry Chase you're a good guy and if i wasn't friends with your sister i would've totally kissed you again."i said shyly. The rest of the time we were in the coffee shop we just had small talk after we left i took my jog home alone. When i got home i quickly ran up to check if Sam was still okay, she was lights out and i could hear a little snoring action aswell. I decided to go for a swim to clear my mind, when i heart a text coming through.
Hi Cassie hope your feeling okay today i just wanted to see if you would like to get some dinner with me tonight. The message was from Zack and i wasn't quite sure why he wanted to go out with me but i was quite intrigued.
Hey Zack at what resturant do you want to meet and what time? I waited a little for his reply and then i heard my phone again.
Bostinos 7 o clock if that's fine with you? I've heard of Bostinos before its a very luxories place with a rooftop jaquizzi and a tikki bar. Ive heard theres a waiting list for a month ahead, i wasnt sure how Zack was able to find a reservation.
7 is fine I'll meet you there. It was only around 3ish now so i had enough time to go for my swim and still get ready. After my swim Sam was awake and had already packed her stuff to go home. "you're sure you goinv to be fine tonight Cas? i know your parents are only coming home tomorrow" she said with a concerned look.
"Sam I'll be fine it's only one night besides i have loads of work to do" i said trying to convince her. I don't want her knowing that iam having dinner with Zack tonight otherwise I'll never get out of here in time.
"Must i walk you home quickly you have like 3 bags" i asked.
"No Cas it's okay Chase is picking me up" she said with a smile. We sat talking for a while untill we heard Chase's car park out front and then a knock on the door. I quickly went to open up for him.
"hey Chase" i said with a smile.
"hey Cas i hope you don't mind me asking its super hot today you think i can take a dip in your pool?" he said with a grin. Thats such a weird requist but i guess he can go for a dip while i get ready.
"yeah sure" i said still confused by his question.
"well if Chase is going for a swim I'm going to join him" Sam said.
"Sam can i talk to you gor a minute before you go swim?" i asked. She walked up to my room with me and then shut the door behind her.
"don't be upset with me but the reason why i said i was fine tonight is because im meeting someone for dinner." i said a little shyly.
"oh Cas you should've told me, iam upset, but im more excited you're going on your first date" she said laughing. "okay well you guys can swim until im finished getting ready" i said. I knew she wouldn't leave me be if i had to go on thats why i cut it short.
"okay shout if you need help picking an outfit" she said running down the stairs. I could hear the splashing of the water and immediately wanted to join them, but i didn't want to cancel on Zack knowing how hard it is to get a reservation for Bastinos. After showering and putting on a light touch of make up i decided to wear a white dress with an open back and has a v-line infront it was short dress but covered everything up i decided to add some black stilettos and a black purse. I already have slightly curly hair so i just made my hair into beach waves and keep it loose. It was about 6 o'clock when 8 was finished and decided to go chill by Chase and Sam while they were getting done, since the restaurant was only 15 minutes away i had more than enough time. When i reached the back off my house i could see how Chase was staring at me and it made my heart flutter. "Sam what do you think?" i asked with a grin.
"You look amazing girl and i didn't even have to help you" she said laughing.
"i only have to be at the restaurant at 7 so i can spend some time with you before we have to go." i said shyly. I didn't like kicking people out of my house so i told them if they wanted to stay they could.
"Its okay Cas we don't want to intrude." she said knowingly.
"Sam you're my best friend if you were intruding i would've told you to leave" i said and i guess Sam could hear the honesty in my voice because she didn't argue futher.
"Chase there's a spare bedroom next to mine if you would like to sleep over and there's some beer in the fridge that i had leftover from a previous party and Sam you know where my room is i probably won't be home too late." i said with a huge grin I really hate being alone and they are actually saving me from a sleepless night.
" okay Cas we will stay but then you have to let Chase atleast pick you uo or drop you off"she said and i could hear her snork.
"its really fine im taking an uber to the restaurant and all depending on how the date goes he'll either drop me off or I'll uber back"i had to reoly with quick thinking. I didn't like the fact that someone has to chauffeur me.
" Cas it's fine I'll drop you off and then I'll even come get you if your date goes side ways, who knows maybe i get a glimpse of the guy." he said with a hint of sarcasm. I thought i heard jealousy in his voice but i could've been wrong.
