Wake up, breakfast.Karate, lunch.
Karate, dinner.
stay in dormitory.
Mary understood that I function better in planned circumstances. When ever we were in our rooms, we devised a plan to keep Matthew out of my head. Mary had some input, but she mainly just kept sniffing the air for signs that Matthew could hear me.
Basically, we'd wake up and walk to the cafeteria to eat breakfast. We're both thoughtful people that don't mind the still silence.
After breakfast, we'd usually stay in Mary's favorite room, and do karate. When I became a ravenous little beast, we'd go get lunch. Then, we'd either continue doing karate or something else fun. She has friends, she has a life besides karate.
Then we'd stay in our dormitory after dinner.
That plan worked well. I thought maybe I could fit in here, and forget the fact the only person I'd known longer than a few months here was Matthew. I had fun with some of Mary's friends, or maybe that was just Justin.
It was a week before the tournament and I was in Mary's karate room with Mary. Then she went tense. Just like my dream last night. Alexis was coming. Part of me was interested to see this girl the lessens Mary's infinite confidence.
A few moments later, there was a light tap on the door. Mary answered with a straight face, the she faked to turn happy.
"Alexis! Come in!" She called. Alexis embraced her in a quick hug. I silently made my way to the door.
"Hi Mary! I can't believe the tournament is only a week away!" Alexis was ecstatic.
"I know!" Mary looked just as happy. "What brings you here?"
Alexis darted her shining blue eyes to me. Her long bronze hair was waving in her loose ponytail, and I could tell right away why Nicholas had chosen her. "I wanted to meet Lily."
"Hi." I smiled tentatively.
"Hi Lily. I'm Alexis Watson. I have survival powers." She shook my hand.
"Oh. Cool." I sounded like an idiot. "I predict the future."
Alexis chuckled, "I know."
"Have you met Matthew yet?" Mary asked. "He is really cool. You can just think a question, and he'll answer it."
"I was just with him and Nicholas at his room. He was the one that told me I should meet Lily."
Mary lightly winced. "How is he coming along?"
Alexis was a bright ball of sunshine. She was laughing again. "To be honest, he is kind of scared that you'll be participating too." She looked directly at me. "After last time..."
I grinned. "It was the pepper spray."
"And he even has an advantage. He can read the moves you're about to make. But you can see see his moves already. It's like a tie." Alexis was lost in thought, almost like she wanted me to win. "Unless, oh!"
"What?" Mary asked.
"Andrew will help us!"
"Who's Andrew?" I asked.
"He has one potion talent, he might know something about blocking all powers from your system. That would mean Matthew wouldn't be able to read your mind," Mary explained.
"But wouldn't that be cheating?"
"Actually, no. Because powers like Matthew's are rare, it isn't technically against the rules." Alexis said. "You've beaten him up before, you can do it again."
