"Wanna go for a walk maybe? Ease the sadness in the air, maybe get to know each other more?" I offered Owen, I didn't want this tension between us to persist, and I was hoping to tell him more about myself, and maybe learn more about him. He nodded, standing up and turning off the fire. "Do you mind if we stop at my place so I can change?" He asked, I agreed and he brightened up.
I grabbed Arnold and set him on the couch in the living room. Owen followed me to my room where I grabbed a sundress I hadn't worn yet and my white FILAs. I got changed in the bathroom and returned to find him sitting on my bed, looking at a book on my bedside table.
"Have you ever read it?" I nodded over at the novel, watching him inspect the cover.
"Looking for Alaska? No, can't say I have." He said, standing up, "is it any good?"
I nodded, "I've read it about a dozen times," I laughed.
"Wanna go see if we can find Charlie and Erynn?" Owen laughed as he grabbed his phone. As we walked out he dialled Charlie's number. The phone rang until we finally left the elevator.
"Where are you?" Owen chuckled to his phone, following me to the front door. We stepped out onto the street while he listened to the brunette on the other end.
"Okay, so they're at a cafe not far from the studio, let's just stop by my place and then go." Owen pointed in the direction. We walked along the street in silence for some time.
"So, what bands did you grow up listening to?" He asked, removing the orange beanie to fiddle with his hair before replacing it.
"Oh, mostly classic rock. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, the works. Rick was big on country music, and Kenny taught me a lot of musicals and stuff." I grinned, he nodded, "those are good rock bands!"
"Do you have any siblings?" I ask him as we walk side by side. Owen guides us to turn a corner. "I do! I have an older sister and two younger half-siblings. They're wonderful, I love them all."
Owen began talking about his family's dynamic and how he wanted to make them proud. "I'll be honest I'm a pretty negative person, especially when it comes to working. I'm always my worse critic, I will say that I can redo shots as many times as they need to if there's even a hint of disappointment on anyone's face." He scratched the back of his head. I smiled, "Well, you're not alone there," I sighed.
"Do you have anxiety too?" He bluntly asked, causing me to blink.
"Well when your father is someone as well known as Kenny Ortega, there's a certain pressure on you to be this talented, successful person who has it all figured out. I never really got a chance to be a kid because everyone was concerned with who I was with or what I was doing. It made it extremely hard to make friends," I shrugged. "Erynn was the first person who didn't see my last name as my only redeeming quality."
"I know what you mean. I was a Nickelodeon kid, we never really got to do much because of strict rules."
"I bet you're glad you're out then," I smiled, he nodded and paused in front of a building. He gestured for me to follow him inside and led the way.
We took an elevator to the 7th floor and arrived in front of one of the first doors. He unlocked it and opened it wide enough for me to walk through. I entered and looked around his spacious place.
The entire apartment was in a very neutral colour palette and very comfortable looking. The boys clearly had their hearts set on being able to take naps on any piece of furniture. Suddenly my phone pinged.
