Chapter six

Megan's pov:
My eyes flickered open and before I could see who it was I already knew it was vinnie from the comfort of his hand in mine.
"Hey" he spoke softly stroking my cheek and smiling with a bit of pain in his eyes.
"What happened" I was about to sit up but as I did so I felt a pain in my side and it stung a lot.
"Hello darling, you had surgery Meg. You had a fractured appendix" my mum appeared at my side and when she says this I feel myself make a confused face.
"I know it's crazy but the doctor said this happens sometimes" she placed a hand over mine and I mouthed 'what the hell' causing a laugh from my mother but vinnie stayed silent with a worried look on his face.
After a few more doctors came in to see me and my mum fed me some jelly I was finally alone with my bestfriend who was still not himself, he seemed upset about something and I guessed it was about this but I couldn't tell.
"Spill".
"What" vinnies eyebrows thread in between his forehead and I smiled placing a hand over his.
"What's wrong? I know there is something up" he looked down to our hands and then back up to my eyes.
I saw a tear roll down his cheek and just by that I pull his face into my chest hugging him tight.
"Shhh...talk to me" I hold him in my hands feeling concerned at how upset he was.
"I just got scared. I never thought-"he stopped.
"What?".
"I never thought I would lose you, I can't imagine it ever happening and I got scared for a minute when your mum told me you were in the hospital" his words make my heart jump and I didn't expect it from him.
He was crying because he thought he was gonna lose me?
"Awh vinnie. I'm not going anywhere" I pull him back into me and hold him as tight as I can not wanting to let him go.

Vinnie stayed with me the whole night in the hospital and when the morning came he woke up before me to get to the cafeteria before anyone else.
"I didn't want all the good stuff to be eaten before you got anything" he placed a tray over me with a big smile on his face and he sat beside me opening a chocolate pudding he had gotten for himself shoving the spoon into his mouth.
"Thankyou" I smiled and started to munch on the waffles he had gotten drizzled in chocolate and strawberries then I finished it all just when my mum arrived.
"You look so much better today" she hugged me and then passed me a handful of clothes to change into so when I could leave later I wouldn't have to keep this hospital robe on.

When the time came I had to be helped up and when I could walk by myself I limped a bit feeling a pain still in my side but it didn't stop me from going to the bathroom to slip into the clothes I was given.
My mum had brought my fluffy bottoms and then I smiled as I pulled vinnies black hoodie over my head.
When I headed out to the car I had to take a few bits with me like painkillers and cream after my surgery and then I rolled the sleeves of the hoodie up it being huge on me.
I climbed in with a deep sigh beside vinnie and I then noticed he was staring at me with his brown eyes holding an expression I couldn't read.
"What?" I looked down at myself to see if I had something on me but I didn't and I was really puzzled. What was he looking at?
"Nothing. Sorry, you just look cute in my hoodie" I laughed at his words and then rolled my eyes squeezing the sleeves into my hands feeling a strange feeling as I sat beside him.

When we arrived home I was so happy to be back in my own bed and I was glad to find that my mum had changed my bedding after i was sick loads, that's an experience I'll never forget.
I sat cross legged on my clean duvet and then smiled as vinnie walked in sitting infront of me returning my smile.
"Close your eyes" I hesitated for a moment but did as he said and then felt him drop something into my hands.
Curiosity took over so I opened my eyes seeing a key chain led in the base of my palm.
I lifted it into the air seeing a heart with words on it:
My bestfriend til the end
I pulled it in my hands holding it tight and when I looked up I saw vinnie holding one too.
"Cute isn't it" he smiled and then shoved his back into his pocket.
He frowned after seeing my face because I didn't do or say anything.
"You don't like it?".
"Your the best. You know that right" he smiled when I said this but then frowned once again.
I searched his eyes trying to figure out what he was thinking or even feeling at this moment because things didn't seem the same and I couldn't tell why. What happened?
"I'm not the best. Definitely not" I saw a tiny glimpse of pain in his face and I couldn't quite understand why he was being so strange? He told me what was wrong in the hospital but it seemed like something else was on his mind.
Without saying anything I threw my arms around him pulling him into a hug not knowing what else to do and he seemed thankful that I did so.
He pressed his hands into me hugging me back and when I pulled away he didn't let me go.
I looked at him confused and felt myself searching his eyes again.
"I'm sorry" vinnie spoke his voice slightly cracking and I raised an eyebrow worried.
"For what?" I asked and then I stopped breathing.
