"Harry...Harry, wake up!" Draco said, shaking Harry back and forth on the bed. "This came for you,"
Harry slowly opened his eyes and stretched, sitting up in bed and putting his glasses on. He looked over to Draco, who pushed a letter into his hands looking at him expectantly. Harry took the letter and opened it, a confused look on his face.
"Who's it from?" Harry asked.
Draco shrugged. "Don't know. It was on my nightstand when I woke up."
Harry swallowed and skimmed through the brief note, scrunching his eyebrows together and then reading it again. He then looked up at Draco and said, "Um, it's from my cousin."
"What?"
"Yeah, my cousin, Dudley. He said--"
"Isn't he a muggle?" Draco said, to which Harry nodded. "Well then how did he send that? I don't suppose muggle post gets sent here and I highly doubt he has an owl."
Harry opened his mouth and closed it. "I, well I dunno. I suppose you're right. But it has his name on it and he mentioned something that happened between us...no one else was there so,"
Draco rolled his eyes and leaned back into his pillows. "What does he want?"
"You," Harry said. Draco turned his head in Harry's direction, slightly surprised and a bit confused, but mostly he was feeling quite smug.
"What can I say," he said with a smirk on his face. "I'm irresistible."
Harry laughed. "Ha-ha, very funny. He said he wants to meet you, here."
Harry handed Draco the note and let him read through a few times. He had a very odd feeling about this, sort of like how he felt in his fifth year going to the ministry. Something felt off, but what could it have been?
And of all people, what would Dudley have to do with anything? Unless it was a setup and someone was trying to get to Draco and Harry...but who would be trying to do that? And now that they were back at Hogwarts none of the Dursleys would try to get to him...but Dudley?
"You don't think your father has something to do with this, do you?" Harry asked.
Draco took a deep breath and fiddled with the parchment, keeping his eyes on the scribbled writing. "Maybe, he's done some fucked up shit. But this isn't his writing so, no, not really." He looked over at Harry. "Am I supposed to go to this thing?"
"Well...do you want to?"
Draco shrugged. "I think it'll be weird. This whole situation is weird. And where am I to send back a response, by the way?"
"His house. It's 4 Privet Drive in Surrey. Maybe I should go with you just in case."
"No. I'll just go myself. Please, Harry, you think I need to be babysat?"
Harry shook his head. "I'm not saying that. I just, something about this does not seem right."
Draco shrugged him off and got up from bed, picking out some clothes from his drawers and heading to the bathroom. "I'm a big boy. I can take care of myself. Besides, if it was a trap, which it's not ("It could be," Harry argued), I wouldn't want both of us to be caught in it."
Harry watched as Draco closed the bathroom door and started the shower. He grabbed the note from off of the bed, got dressed and ran up to the Gryffindor tower.
"Harry!" Hermione gasped as she saw him, pulling him into a tight hug. Ron ran over as well and joined them, the three of them now squished together in a tight embrace. "Oh, Harry, it's so good to see you. We were so worried, what happened to you?"
"Long story, but I have other news. Come with me," he said in a rushed whisper, pulling Ron and Hermione up to the boys' dormitory and pushing them inside.
"I can't be up here," Hermione said, throwing a glance over to Ron.
"Is everything alright?" Ron asked, watching as Harry rummaged through his belongings. "Harry, what're you looking for?"
Harry turned around and faced them, holding out the note. "Do either of you recognize this handwriting?"
Hermione stepped towards him and grabbed the note from his hands, Ron looking over her shoulder reading the note. "That's your cousin? The same one whose family my brothers and I rescued you from?"
"I know, right?"
Hermione shook her head. "It doesn't look familiar. Is he going?"
"I hope not." Harry said. "I talked to him this morning and he seemed kinda interested."
"Did you tell him to stop being a big-headed git and to read the room?" Ron asked, slightly laughing at his own insult.
Harry gave him an amused look. "I tried but maybe if I worded it like that, he would've listened."
Hermione gave the note back to Harry and headed towards the door. "Look, as long as he doesn't have a return address, it'll be fine. If he doesn't respond there won't be a meeting. C'mon guys, we're going to be late for class."
"Actually," Harry started slowly. "I may or may not have told him the address."
"Harry!" Hermione said incredulously. "Well you better hope he doesn't remember it, I think you're right. Something is definitely up."
"He doesn't seem like the type to forget things quickly," Ron muttered under his breath. "Just try and convince him to not go, if you're so worried."
"Ron," Hermione said. "Aren't you even a little worried?"
"Of course, I don't want anything bad happening to Harry," he answered. "But let's be realistic here, when has Malfoy ever taken direction from anyone but...well, you know. Besides, it's not like he'll send back a response right away. Maybe he will forget about it."
***
Lucius was sat in the garden outside of the Dursleys' house, waiting hopefully for a letter from Harry, or even better, from his son. He's been out here since he sent the letter, and he was starting to get very cold and very frustrated. He was lucky that tonight was especially cold and most people were staying inside, otherwise he may have been seen camping out in their yard.
He spent most of this time creating a plan. If Draco agreed to come, he would have to get to the park down the street and sit somewhere that he could see other people, but nobody could see him. That way, when Draco got there, Lucius could sneak up behind him and take him away.
Another thirty minutes have passed before Lucius got any action at all. Suddenly, he saw up in the sky a pitch-black owl soaring down to him. He let out an excited breath and got to his feet, holding his arm out for the owl to land on.
Tied to the bird's leg was a small scroll of parchment, tied together with a thin piece of string; the exact piece of string Lucius used to tie his own letter. He shooed the owl away and, hands shaking with anticipation, opened the letter.
Okay. We'll meet tonight at eleven sharp.
Lucius smiled devilishly and slipped the note into his cloak. He trampled over the flowers and plants that Petunia had perfectly placed in her garden and made his way to the park, ready to make his attack on Draco and end their pathetic relationship.
