When Harry woke up, he was in an unfamiliar room. It was definitely a sort of hospital room; the walls were pure white, like the made beds around him and the ceiling lights were so bright that he had to squint to allow his pupils to adjust.
He felt amazing. His body wasn't in any pain and his heart didn't feel heavy anymore, and most importantly he wasn't missing Draco. He must be here.
The door to the hospital wing opened and a tall, thin woman glided in. She has long, golden hair that fell straight down to her waist and she had pale skin. Her cheek bones were high up on her face and she looked very peaceful. She came up to Harry's bed.
"Who are you?" Harry asked curiously.
"I am the gatekeeper," she said in a smooth voice. "I'm the one who let you in here."
Harry sat up in his bed. He noticed he was dressed in his best clothes. He was clean and the cut on his head was completely healed. "Where are we?"
"Look around, Harry. What do you see, what do you feel?" she said.
Harry looked all around him, there wasn't a single thing out of place and everything radiated positive energy. He felt happy. "Is this Heaven?"
"It's whatever you want it to be. Come on, I have something to show you."
Harry got up from his bed and followed her out of the hospital wing into a long hallway. It was completely empty except for an archway at the very end of the corridor. Harry didn't see any other people and there wasn't any noise except for that of his footsteps.
"So, how did I get here?"
She looked over at him and smiled. "I brought you. It's my job, as gatekeeper to retrieve your body the second it gives out. I was already at the ground before you even hit it."
Harry shook his head. "I'm sorry. I don't think I understand."
"I didn't expect you to. Let me explain it from the beginning. There is a whole system here, everyone has a specific job that is equally as important. It's my job to decide who can come here and who is not allowed. I decided that you would be a perfect fit here, so I came to pick you up."
Harry looked around them. "I don't see anyone else here."
She laughed. "There isn't anyone else here. This is your entry room, nobody else can get in. Once you speak with the TG you'll hopefully understand."
"TG?" Harry asked.
"The transition guide. He'll be right through there. This is where I leave you," she said, stopping a few feet away from the archway.
"You said you decide on everyone who gets to come in to Heaven?" Harry asked. She nodded her head once in affirmation. "So you took Draco, too?"
She sighed happily. "Ah, Draco Malfoy. Yes, he's here. Quite a tragic way to die, I was in the park with his father waiting for his life to be given to me."
"So it was Lucius." Harry said bitterly.
"Don't worry about it, Harry Potter. I got Draco here safely. Now go, the transition guide is waiting for you."
Harry swallowed and started walking into the bright white light coming from the archway. He walked through it and opened his eyes.
"The astronomy tower?" he said under his breath. "What am I doing here?"
"You're time here is not yet over, Harry." a voice said from behind him.
Harry turned around and where there once was a long corridor was now the entrance of the astronomy tower where he entered through not long ago. In front of him stood a tall, older man with white hair and a long beard and wizard's robes that Harry has never seen before.
"Dumbledore?"
Professor Dumbledore smiled at him. "I was hoping you wouldn't have forgotten what I looked like after all this time."
"It hasn't been that long," Harry said.
"Oh, forgive me. Time works differently here. Anyway, walk with me." Dumbledore said, gesturing for Harry to go down the tower steps.
"Why are we here?" Harry asked.
"Because you haven't said goodbye yet." Dumbledore answered.
"Yes I did. I fell off the tower only a couple hours ago."
"Actually, Harry, you've been gone for a few days,"
Harry stopped his descend and looked incredulously at Dumbledore. "What? I-it can't be. I only just woke up now."
Dumbledore smiled and kept going down the stairs. "I told you time works differently. Your friends miss you greatly, Harry. You still have to say your goodbyes."
"I don't get it." Harry said. They reached the bottom of the stairs and Dumbledore started leading him down the corridor.
"Just keep following me," he said. "I'm bringing you to where you need to be. Be mindful now, everybody will be going."
"Going where?" Harry said, as a line of students and teachers started walking in front of them coming from the stairs and classrooms.
"To your funeral of course." Dumbledore smiled at Harry, who was looking more confused by the second.
They continued to walk in silence as Harry looked around at all of the faces he's gotten so familiar with after his years of school. He caught a glimpse of Hermione and Ron, who both looked extremely terrible. They mustn't have gotten a lot of sleep because they looked even more dead than Harry.
"My friends..." Harry said. "Can they see us?"
"Did you see me at Draco's funeral?" Dumbledore said.
Harry fell silent and they continued walking, stepping outside and starting towards the castle grounds. As he was walking, Harry's eye caught bright blonde hair in the distance, walking alongside the other Slytherins. His heart started pounding and he felt a rush of adrenaline.
"Draco!" he said, starting to run over to him but Dumbledore stopped him.
"Not yet, Harry." Dumbledore said. "He won't be able to see you."
Harry got mad and started to raise his voice. "What do you mean 'not yet'? Why can't he see me?"
"Be patient, Harry. You see, both you and Draco are in different places--"
"We're both right here, I can see him!"
"Let me finish," Dumbledore said calmly. "The gatekeeper explained it to you, you are in your personal transition room. The people you see here are only replicas of the real ones. If they were all truly here, with the two of us, they'd all be able to see us."
"So when can I see Draco then?" Harry asked.
Dumbledore smiled. "Just be patient...Draco wasn't nearly as talkative when I brought him to his funeral."
Harry slightly smiled, and almost felt like he could laugh. But then everyone stopped walking and started sitting down. Harry saw the teachers assemble the same way they did at Draco's funeral all those months ago. He then turned his attention to Draco, who walked over to Harry's casket and stood right next to it, as if he was protecting it.
"Well, we're here. It's time for you to cast your goodbyes." Dumbledore said, still smiling.
Harry took a deep breath and nodded. "My funeral."
