“WELCOME TO Sitio Del Ferrio's Mount Hiraya! Are you ready?”
“Of course!” Kierra enthusiastically responded to Charcoal's question. We are currently located at the hike's starting point—the hanging bridge above the aggressive river flows.
Sitio Del Ferrio is a small village here in Lilavendrin. This place is like suburbs or the outskirts of the town because the main town is still kilometers away from here. Pero, sikat ang Sitio Del Ferrio bilang tourist attraction, dahilan kung bakit nandito kami ngayon.
We also had a guide with us, who is said to be Charcoal's friend. Turns out, Charcoal came across here a few times, that's why the people here are familiar with him already.
“Mang Tomas!”
The old man walked towards us with a very welcoming smile carved on his face. “Okay na? Maaari pa nating maabutan ang paglubog ng araw dahil sa pag-tantya ko'y dalawang oras lang naman ang hiking papunta sa tuktok,” wika niya habang isinusuot ang maliit niyang itim na backpack. “Tara na? Siguraduhin niyo munang kumpleto na ang mga dala niyo, mahirap nang bumalik pa tayo pababa.”
Charcoal gave a thumbs-up before zipping up his big traveling bag and settling it on his back. “Okay na, Mang Tomas!”
Umiling na lamang si Mang Tomas. Sinabi niya kaninang Manong Tom na lang ang itawag sa kaniya, pero napagkatuwaan yata ng mga tao ang pangalan niya't nakasanayan nang Mang Tomas ang gamiting palayaw.
“Tara na!” Kierra, once more, enthusiastically exclaimed. Though, her enthusiasm immediately died down as soon as she realized that we have to cross the hanging bridge first.
Nag-aalangan siyang tumawa. “H-Huwag na lang pala.”
She was about to step back when Rome pushed her abruptly, causing the hanging bridge to move.
