Chapter 13-
Starling crashed their lips together. This kiss was different, filled with passion instead of lust.
Elliot was surprised at first but quickly responded to her with equal amounts of admirations and intensity. His hands traveled to her hair and cupped her face.
They broke the kiss and looked deeply into the others eyes.
"Hey Elliot?" Starling asked, her voice just a whisper.
"Yeah Star?" He responded, his fingers grazed face as he moved her hair.
"I don't hate you anymore." She told him as she looked up through her lashes, her thumb moving back and forth aimlessly along his cheek.
Elliot took her hands in his and replied,
"I don't hate you too."
She gave a light giggle.
"Well that's good, I mean considering you kissed me back and stuff if you did that would be quite awk-"
He rambling was interrupted with his lips on hers. He pulled back and told her,
"You talk too much."
Starling blushed and moved to lay down next to him. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close, resting his head on hers. They stayed like this for a while, just holding each other.
Eventually they fell asleep wrapped up in each other's arms. Just like that night on the airship. Except this time, when Starling woke up, She didn't pull out of his arm. Instead, she moved herself closer, resting her head on his chest. Falling back into a peaceful sleep.
It was blissful. Holding each other all night. Elliot was the first to fully awake, smiling down at the beautiful girl sleeping on his chest.
Her body raised and fell steadily as he studied her. Her sharp features were like something straight off of a canvas, perfect. Her full lips were lightly pressed together.
Her dark lashes fluttered and her brows furrowed as she stirred awake. She stretched out her arms and groaned as she opened her eyes.
Once she saw Elliot in front of her face a smile played upon her lips.
"Mmmm morning." She said, her voice still suffering from the effects of sleep.
"Good morning." He replied, his voice significantly deeper.
"You rest here, I'm going to go shower and then we should probably start preparations for the benefit this Friday."
He told her before gently moving her off of him so he could get up. He left the bed and headed to the bathroom.
Starling stayed there in his bed for a few more minutes before sitting up and reaching for the phone. She ordered the two of them some breakfast. She then finally got up and stood on the floor, her joints popping at the weight.
Starling walked back to her room and looked in the mirror. Her hair was a mess so she quickly took a brush to it. Her eyes were puffy from sleep so she decided to face her face and get ready.
Today she decided to wear a white turtleneck shirt with a black cami dress on top. She paired it with some boots and walked out when she heard a knock at the door. Their food was here.
Grabbing the two plates she thanked the man and closed the door. She set the plates on the table just as Elliot walked in.
"I heard a knock, everything ok?"
He was obviously still in the middle of getting ready, he wore only grey plaid pants and was running a towel through his damp hair.
"Oh yeah fine, just ordered some breakfast for us."
"Oh perfect, I'll be out in a few minutes."
He disappeared behind his door and true to his word reappeared a few minutes later. He was wearing a black sweatshirt with a collar underneath. He had a few silver rings along his large hands.
The two of them ate together, discussing the plan for the day. They needed to go find a dress to match the theme: colors of the gems. Meaning all dresses had to be either emerald green, sapphire blue or ruby red. They also had to find a tie for Elliot to match.
After they finished breakfast they left for the dress shop they went to previously.
They walked out the hotel together, Elliots hand rested possessively on the small of Starlings back. They talked about random topics as they walked the streets of York New. They finally arrived at the shop.
As they entered, Star looked through the color coordinated racks. She picked out two red dresses, three blue and one green.
She tried on the red ones first, Elliot thought they all look stunning but Starling always found something wrong with it.
A few minutes later she came out wearing the only green option she picked. It was floor length, a deep green with gold details throughout. It had a deep V in both the front and back, sheer fabric was draped from the arms with small stars along it.
(a/n: dress is pictured above)"This is the one." Elliot said confidently.
"And why is that?" Starling teased.
He walked up behind her and turned her sideways in the mirror.
"Simple, there are all these stars."
He emphasized his point by tracing the stars along her arms,
"A star for Starling. It's perfect." He stated.
She agreed with him and they bought it, along with a matching tie.
It was around 12:50 as they left the shop so Starling convinced Elliot to stop for a small lunch. They decided on a sushi place not too far from the hotel.
"So what are u planning on getting?" Elliot asked Starling."Hmmm." She scanned the menu and put her thumb along her bottom lip in concentration.
"Shrimp tempura roll with miso soup, what about you."
"I'll do the same."
Elliot ordered for them and they found a table outside. For the next hour they just enjoyed their food while talking about all sorts of topics, how Star joined the troupe, Elliots life with the Zoldyck's, their favorite memories from past missions, pretty much everything.
When the conversation found a natural stopping point Elliot concluded that they should probably head back.
Starling had really enjoyed talking with him, learning all about him and his life was extremely interesting to her.
She had noticed the little things too, how his eyes lit up when he talked about some of his passions, the way he used his hands a lot when he talked, how when he mentioned his younger brother Killua, he softened at the thought of him.
Elliot felt the same about her, he felt as if they could talk for days and never be bored.
They arrived back at the hotel and went back to their separate rooms. They tested for the rest of the day, content with not doing much.
Elliot was going over their plan for Friday, fine tuning some things while Starling was relaxing in the large bath.
They ate a simple dinner and a few hours later went to sleep. This day was a simple day, but impactful all the same.
