Chapter 16-A month and a half has passed.
Elliot and Starling had successfully eliminated all of their assigned targets and had decided to stay in Yorknew. They were pretty much living in the hotel at that point.
Their feelings had developed quickly and to be honest, they were in love. Neither of them would admit it for many reasons: trust issues, trauma, pride, etc. They were pretty much a couple but neither of them felt the need to put a label on it they just..knew. Everything was going smoothly until today.
Starling woke up wrapped in Elliots arms, the sheets tangled around them, reminding her of the events of the prior night. A soft smile played on her lips as she snuggled into the crook of his neck. Before she could drift back to sleep she saw something on the nightstand that caught her attention.
She looked up and rubbed her eyes to ensure she was seeing this correctly. Her heart dropped as she realized what it was, a red envelope sat there on the nightstand in their room. She knew what that meant.
Chrollo had been there.
About three weeks ago she ran into Chrollo, the infamous leader of the Phantom Troupe. Starling was picking up some lunch for her and Elliot when she was suddenly grabbed into an alleyway. She moved to strike but her attempts were swiftly stopped. Her eyes widened when she realized the only person who could've predicted and stopped her attack would be Chrollo, the one who taught her it in the first place. Her body froze as he stepped into her line of sight.
Chrollo was not unattractive in any way. He was a good head taller than Star, he was pale in complexion, his toned body caged Starling in against the cold brick wall. His eyes were a dark grey, his black hair framed his face, he had a bandage across his forehead, covering the upside down cross tattoo. Blue earrings hung from his ears. Most people would write him off, thinking he was not a threat due to his youthful look (even though he is twenty six). But anyone who knew him knew damn well not to mess with him.
Chrollo Lucifer, the deadliest man alive.
The man who fought against both elders of the Zoldyck family and managed to make it out alive, the only man to ever manage such a feat.
The man that currently had Starling pinned against a wall, fueled with the anger of her leaving wordlessly for five months.
"Well Starling, you're a tricky one to track down you know?"
"Chrollo." Starling avoided his eyes, settling on looking past him to the ground behind him.
"It was almost as if you didn't want me to find you. After Machi ran into and we relocated your family I thought for sure you would come back to us. But you didn't. Why?"
The anger seeped into his voice the more he spoke. Starling didn't know whether to lie, tell the truth or run.
She settled on the truth.
