Cheer. Cheerleading was Kurt's life. He had loved it since he was young when he found he was incredibly good at flexibility, but he got a rude awakening when he entered junior high and then high school and joined the Cheerios, did he learn what it was like to be critiqued so harshly that almost made you want to either throw up or cry. But Kurt instead held himself together high and proud, confidence radiating off of him.
Sue Sylvester, his cheer coach had let him know where he stood on the team. Very bottom of the pyramid, never leading or front and centre. Santana was the newest captain in of the cheerleaders, after the announcement of Quinn having to step down due to unknown reasons. Santana was on the top of the pyramid, Brittany and Santana both below her, with Kurt on the bottom.
He had always admired how confident Santana was when her and Brittany began dating, no fear at all, nobody questioned on them or second guessed them. When Kurt ended high school everyone just automatically knew he was gay. His voice was higher than other teenagers his age, and before he joined Cheerios his outfits were much more broader and outspoken.
That stopped when he suddenly was forced to wear his cheerleading uniform all day everyday at school much to his pleasure and discomfort. He eventually got used to it though.
With regionals coming up for cheer, he was beyond nervous knowing he couldn't fail or else Sue would have their asses overworked until she decided they were ready. This meant she wouldn't ever stop, pushing them to the limits. After regionals came nationals- it was the teams goal. Get first place in nationals, or at least top three.
Kurt glanced away from his teammates discussing things, as he looked back at his duffel bag filled with his towel and things after practices. Practice had just finished for them and now he needed to wait for Finn to be finished his football practice which according to the time on his phone would be finished in fifteen minutes giving Kurt just enough time to have a quick shower and be out before any of the football players come in.
He hummed, while he rinsed the shower gel he had all over his body. He couldn't help but think of Blaine Anderson. How mysterious he was. And ever since the kiss in the hallway and then the arguments at Blaine's apparent brothers house? He couldn't help but think the boy wanted him just as much as Kurt did. He always said something about Pathetic Love? Which Kurt didn't understand, what made this boy think he wasn't worthy of love?
More importantly who? And whoever it was Kurt wanted to personally punch them in the face. The noise of boys suddenly walking inside the locker room startled Kurt, and he glanced at the clock on the wall frowning when it read 4:30- meaning he'd already been in their for a half hour. He silently got out of the shower and headed straight to his locker, listening to the conversation and excited chatter of boys happen around him.
"What's that Anderson kid doing anyway? Puckerman, why'd you fight him a while ago?"
Kurt froze in his spot curious of the answer.
"Didn't want him threatening my status or anything." Puck responded, a hint of annoyance clear in his voice.
"What's up with him and Hummel? Have they got their lady love on yet? I hear Hummel's a real moaner from some of the other guys."
Kurt didn't know who's voice it was but he suddenly wished they knew he was standing right there listening to them speak. He might've been a cheerleader since he was young but it took him way too long to earn enough respect from his peers.
"Don't talk about my brother like that." Finn answered. "Or Anderson, he's actually a pretty cool dude so just shut up about it."
Kurt sighed quietly thankful for his brothers backup.
