Leaving

I didn't think this through, I thought. God dammit, I don't even have a place to sleep! I don't have Mom's address, but even if I did, it wouldn't be any use to me because she lives in LA; WHICH JUST HAPPENS TO BE AT LEAST TWENTY MILES AWAY!

I still ran away from that house. I wouldn't let ANYTHING take me back to that house. Instead I just ran. I accidentally stumbled across Drew's house. He was taking out the trash. "Carrie?" He asked disbelievingly. He saw my suitcase that I was dragging behind me and his eyes widened. "You ran away?!" He shrieked.

I scoffed. "Puh-lease. My dad kicked me out after my mom came in and I punched Camille in the nose because she said my mom was a bitch." He just looked at me. "Do you even have anywhere to go?"

I shrugged. "I'll find something. I always do." He looked at me like I was an alien, and I knew why. The old Carrie would have crawled back home and never would have actually run away, she would've just talked about it. But I'm not the old Carrie anymore.

Drew's front door opened. It was Lily freaking Jacobs. "Hey Drew! Come back in, we're about to watch the movie! What are you doing-? Oh." She saw me and wrinkled her nose as if she smelled garbage. "Well, well. Look's like Carrie actually ran away." She smirked.

I rolled my eyes and said, "Listen up, Jacobs. I'm not dealing with your shit today, so don't even start."

She gasped and stomped towards me. Drew tried to intervene, but Lily screamed, "Stay out of this, idiot!" and pushed him away.

I dropped my suitcase and suddenly, she was in front of me. And boy, she looked ANGRY. Like so angry she looked UGLY for once. "No wonder your mother left you. She didn't want a stupid, ugly bitch for a daughter! And your dad abused you because he never wanted you! All you are is a MISTAKE Carrie! A MISTAKE!" She yelled in my face.

For the third time that day, I lost my temper. "Yeah, Lily? Well, you wanna know what your brother's probably doing right now? Getting high, drunk, and hating himself for even being related to you!" I yelled back at her.

She slapped me across the face, but I barely felt it. Adrenaline was coursing through me and all I wanted to do was hurt her back. But I didn't, because Drew pushed us away from each other.

"WHAT HAS GOTTEN INTO YOU TWO?!?!" He screamed. He looked at us wildly. "Lily, I thought you were nice. And Carrie... What happened to you to make you like..." He gestured at me. "This?"

I just laughed harshly. "I grew up, Drew. And you want to know what happened? Life happened, bitch."

I flipped my hair and grabbed my suitcase from the ground. "Fuck both of you. Did you hear me? FUCK. YOU." And with that I stomped off into the darkness.
