When I left the school, I went to the internet cafe down the street. I sat down at a computer and looked up, Carrie Delreal. I found my Facebook page and other social media accounts of mine. I went to my father's Facebook page. I scrolled through his friends list. I found someone who looks like me (It wasn't me. I wasn't my dad's Facebook friend. I made a fake account and friended him, and like an idiot, he accepted it. Also, why is his ex-wife still his Facebook friend? God, he's stupid.) I signed back into my real account. I searched for the woman and found her. The woman in the picture looked a lot like me. Blonde hair and pale-ish skin. She had brown eyes, I got my green ones from my dad.
Her name was Caroline Miller. The only hint I had ever had about my mother's name was that my name was her old nickname.
I took a deep breath. I Facebook messaged her, because it said she was online. I said, "Hi. I'm Carrie. Carrie Delreal. I'm not sure of you know who I am, but if you do, please say something."
To my surprise, she answered. "Carrie. I do know you. I never thought your father would tell you who I am."
"Are you my mom?"
A few minutes passed by.
"Yes."
I was so happy. I had found my mother. It was a feeling most people don't understand. It was euphoria. "Where do you live??" I asked.
"Did you ask your father if you could talk to me?" She asked.
"Maybe." I replied.
"I live in LA, Carrie. And... is your father... hurting you in any way, like he did me?" She asked.
"DAD USED TO HURT YOU??? IS THAT WHY YOU LEFT??? And yes."
"Carrie, if he's hurting you, I will fight for your custody right away. He won't get away with it." She declared.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!"
"Wait. It's 12:49. Shouldn't you be in school?"
"..." I couldn't bring myself to tell her what happened. "Can I... visit you? Right now? I have so much to talk about. I live in southern California too, so it shouldn't take long." I ended up asking.
"I'll sign you out from school. What's the address?"
I gave her the address and walked back to school. Luckily for me, it was still lunch (we're allowed to leave campus at lunch). I walked through the front doors and immediately, Drew hounded me.
"Why would you do that?! You had no right! I don't believe you!" He said. I didn't care. I kept smiling and nothing could bring me down. I had found my mother. I was going to meet her at last.
He saw my smile. "Are you happy about how you treated her?" He asked angrily.
"I found her!" I laughed. "I finally, finally found her after all these years!" Drew realized what I meant. "You... You found her?? You found your mom??"
I was suddenly angry at him again. "Why would you care? You only care about Lily after all."
"Fine!" He yelled.
Then the bell rang, and lunch was over. But over the bell, I heard the intercom say, "Carrie Delreal, please come to the office, you're checking out."
The last thing I saw before I ran to the office was Brittney's astonished face.
