I walked around town for a bit, thinking, Well, at least I'm not with my dad. But then again, I now have nowhere to sleep, nothing to eat, and nothing to do.
I had walked into a rich looking neighborhood at about nine. I could see from the streetlights though. I was really hungry, since I hadn't eaten lunch or dinner. I finally realized nothing was going to happen, there wasn't a miracle that would suddenly appear. I was completely, utterly alone. No one was going to come to the rescue.
I collapsed on the sidewalk. I was too tired from walking. I was too hungry to go on. I wasn't used to this. Even when I was abused I got food, water, and a shelter. Now I had nothing.
There are many kinds of abuse. Physical, verbal, emotional, etc. But there's one kind of abuse everyone forgets. The forgotten. I'm officially a forgotten. I knew then. My dad wasn't coming. My mom wasn't coming. I was... well, forgotten.
But then there was hope. In the form of somewhat annoying teenage girls.
I started crying on the sidewalk. I couldn't deal with the fact that no one was coming. I heard footsteps race towards me, and I snapped my head up. I saw a girl with blue eyes and a little-over-shoulder-length brunette hair.
"Are you hurt?" She asked. I shook my head. "No, I'm not hurt." I replied.
"Then why the hell are you crying on a sidewalk?" She asked, raising her eyebrow. I sighed. "It's a long story."
"Well, do you even have anywhere to go?" She asked. I burst out crying again. She looked nervous. "I'll take that as a no."
She ran back into a house at the end of the street. Great. She left. But I was surprised when I saw her running back out of the house with two other girls. The girls came to me, and they looked at each other as if they were having a conversation with eye looks.
"No." One of them said. She had short black hair and and tan skin. "Dad would be furious."
"C'mon!" One of the others said. She had shoulder length dark blonde hair and brown eyes. "She really needs help!"
They're fighting over me, I thought. The girl with brunette hair just looked at me.
"Kylie! Rose!" She yelled. "We should at least listen to what happened to her."
The others nodded. The girl with brunette hair pulled me off the sidewalk. "I'm Kathryn," She said.
"I'm Carrie," I said. The girl with dark blonde hair said, "I'm Kylie." and the girl with short hair said, "I'm Rose."
"You can stay with us for the night," Kathryn said. "We'll decide what happens after that tomorrow after school." Then I remembered that these girls went to my school. I recalled that their dad was famous and their mom was his manager.
You know how celebrities adopt random kids? That's what happened to these three.
Anyway, I followed them into their house and what I saw was amazing. A lot of technology mixed with classiness. The rooms looked like they were color-coded. The kitchen was full of yellow, the living room filled with grey (and a little bit of teal), the dining room was all brown, and their bedrooms were all different colors, too. Kathryn's was red, Kylie's was purple, and Rose's was pink. They took me to a guest bedroom covered with blue. Blue walls, blue bed, blue dresser. They were all different shades though, so it looked really cool.
"Thanks you guys." I said. A chorus of "No prob!" and "Your welcome," could be heard behind me. Kathryn sat on the bed. She patted the surface, silently commanding us to sit. We did. BTW, that bed was freaking amazing! It was soft and comfy... I'm getting off track.
"So... What happened to make you...?" Kathryn said, gesturing at me.
So I told them about the abuse, my family, my mom, Drew, Lily, Brittney. Everytime I told them about the abuse they looked at each other like, OMG! This poor girl! But I didn't want pity.
The sisters looked at each other, then at me. Each other, me. Each other, me. This happened like, fifteen times until Rose finally said, "You're totally staying. You have no choice whether you like it or not."
Kylie cleared her throat loudly. Like, AHEM!!! Aren't we forgetting something? Kathryn looked at her. "Once Mom and Dad hear her story she'll be able to stay as long as she wants, especially because of Dad's past." She said.
Rose sighed. "I don't think that's what she meant by her AHEM."
Kathryn looked at Kylie blankly. Kylie rolled her eyes. "The party tomorrow?" Kathryn looked at her like, what the shit? We're having a party?
"Yeah! Remember the fucking party plans?! IT'S TOMORROW!" Kylie said.
"I won't mind." I said. "I'll even help if you want."
"We always stay home from school the day of a party. You know, to get the house ready." Rose explained. "And ourselves."
"I'm all for it!" I said. "Is there a theme or is it just some random party?"
"I had a wonderful idea a while back," Kathryn started. Rose and Kylie rolled their eyes and made a psh sound. "We're doing a Back-To-School party! Not a lame one. So... You wear whatever you want, but the food and drinks are school-related."
"So no alcohol?" I said, relieved.
"I didn't say there wouldn't be alcohol." Kathryn winked.
Later, after some last minute party planning, I went to sleep feeling better than ever.
