9 | Traitor

“Do you guys know that when we say ‘humina humina’ fast and repeatedly we would sound funny?” Tubbo said as they got out of Techno's vault. Everyone started to say humina and Niki was just shaking her head, laughing with everyone else.

They made their way to the railway Tommy made recently; he said it was a quick way to Pogtopia or Manburg so we don't have to go through the forests and through a lake. They cheered as they go on the railway to encourage one another to fight well on the war.

Seems like they didn't care if there was a traitor in the group at all.

Niki gripped onto her diamond sword which she got from Techno's vault— it wasn't powerful though, it only has a sharpness level one enchantment on it. It's still weak. She was nervous and fidgeting, which Wilbur observed.

“Niki, love, are you okay?”

She snapped out from her thoughts and looked at Wilbur. “I'm sorry, I'm just nervous.” she answered, breathing heavily to calm herself. Wilbur handed her a blue colored pocket. “Here's some blue. If you're feeling negative, you can squish this,” he squished the pad. “It takes the negative feeling away!” he said in a cheerful tone, like a tone of a father showing his child on how to play a toy.

“Thanks, Will. I appreciate it,” she replied, smiling. She squished the pad as they walked together. She eyed her friends, they look so determined on reclaiming L'Manburg.

But reclaiming the nation wouldn’t do anything.

“Dream, it’s nice to see you again,” Tommy said, smirking. Niki held onto her sword, calming herself down. This is for them.

“Nice seeing you too, Tommy. How are you all doing? Heard you got weaker.” Dream replied, leaning onto his shield painted in black, then a huge red X on it.

“No,” Tommy was bothered by it. It was so obvious that he trusted Dream, Dream ended up betraying him for something Schlatt gave him.

Niki looked at Punz who was looking at her right in the eye. He nodded his head as a greeting, but she looked away from him, ignoring him.

“Hm, let’s see about that,” Dream looked at her, signaling her to come over. “Niki,” he called the lass, resulting for everyone to look at me, surprised. “Come here, our first lady.” He said, emphasizing the last two words, and grinned at Tommy.

“Niki?!”

“Niki— I trusted you!”

She walked towards Manburg, siding with Dream. Dream gave her a full set of enchanted netherite armor, an overpowered sword, and a lot of potions of strength and golden apples. Niki smiled at them, the same smile she used to give to them. The genuine smile. “I’m sorry boys, I’m just tired of being underestimated. You know I can do the same thing you guys do, right?” She eyed Wilbur, who looked broken because of the reveal. “Did I do well in acting, Wil? Did I make you fall for it?” she asked him.

“Fuck you, Niki. You’ll fucking regret this. I swear.” Tommy cussed her out, but Niki just rolled her eyes. Dream watched her in amusement, still couldn’t believe she could snap like that. “You always say that Tommy, and do you know where you end up? Still on the losers’ side.” she replied, sticking her tongue out, forming an L with her fingers. Tommy was about to rush at her, but they stopped him from doing so, making her laugh.

“You guys are pathetic and gullible— probably why you’re still convinced that you can still claim this nation back. But news flash! This nation died ever since you held that election stunt. It’s very funny to me that you held an election so you could assert your dominance to L'Manburg, but failed. This nation isn’t all about teamwork, it has been all about hierarchy.” she said, letting out a giggle.

“Techno probably joined the two of you so both of you can assert dominance to the other side. And everyone fell for it! All of you were so sure of Pogtopia winning this battle because of Techno. How do you feel after being used, Technoblade? It’s not too late to switch sides, you know.”

Techno’s grip on his sword tightened as Niki’s words started to sink in. “About three weeks of grinding, just rarely getting enough sleep. Tommy and Wilbur knew you’re going to get them powerful items that’s why they didn’t even spare you some sympathy as they watched you falling asleep during supper. They even made you to grind for items more, am I right?”

“That— that’s not true!” Tommy denied, looking the agonized anthropomorphic pig in the eyes. Niki laughed, grabbing all of their attention again. “I’m tired of holding a lecture, let’s just get this battle started.” Niki signaled her team to attack, catching them in surprise. She brought out her flint and steel, walking towards the L'Mantree, the iconic tree, they claim, eyeing them as they fight with Dream, Sapnap, Karl and Punz.

She took a deep breath before lighting the tree on fire, burning it down. She saluted as it burns down.

It was never meant to be.
