Miles' POV:

"Needless to say I keep on check, she was all bad, bad, nevertheless," I'm sorry, Sunflower is the best song to ever exist, and I can't stop singing it. Not when I'm striding down the school halls going to my locker feeling on top of the frickin' world. Why do I feel like a rainbow on steroids, you ask? Well, I may or may not just have aced a calculus test, and I know you're thinking, 'but you're smart Miles, don't you do that all the time?'

Um...no. Calculus is...bleh. So, I studied my butt off for that final, which was really hard considering the sudden crime rate increase. And honestly, the police are never there when they need to be, so what is Dad even doing every day? Sitting in his police car scoffing pink sprinkled donuts?

Anyway, that test put me in a good mood for the whole week, and now its a Saturday - I know, school on a Saturday, it's absolute torture - and I'm gonna see my parents tomorrow and-

"Shit!" A girl was on the floor in front of me, her books scattered. "Shit," I repeated, dropping to my knees "I am so sorry!"
"It's fine." The girl said as I gathered her books and gave them back to her. She looked up at me, smiling, and let me tell you, she was adorable. Typical Miles, embarrassing himself in front of any girl even remotely cute. Kinda reminds me of that time when Gwen-

"Umm...are you okay?"
"Oh, yeah sorry again for bumping into you. I feel like I owe you an apology, and maybe an introduction?"
"Are you pretending to be normal?"
"...yes."

We both snorted, and she held out her hand,
"Jamie."
Smiling back, I shook her hand.
"Miles."

Maybe I hadn't ruined my chances with her after all.

Jamie's POV:

He was cute, and clumsy, and basically me.

So, this Miles guy and I got talking, if by talking you mean staring at each a bit awkwardly for a while longer, then me finally breaking the tension.

"So...I'm gonna go."
"Oh, uh, yeah. Okay."

"See you around I guess." I finally remembered that civilization existed and rushed back to my dorm, a faint blush tinting my cheeks. The hell was I blushing? Sure, he was adorable, but I was not looking for a boyfriend right now.

Getting to my dorm and shutting the door behind me, my roommate Matilda was lying on our bunk bed, head buried in a book.
"I love that I don't have to do finals and you do." I teased, pulling myself up to the edge of her bed. She turned her head and raised an eyebrow at me, to which I wiggled two at her, before she reached her hand out and slapped me on the arm.

"Girl I-"
Snorting, I got off her bed and climbed down the ladder to my bottom bunk, picking one of the books scattered on the duvet to resume.

"So, what subject?"
"History."
"Still don't see why you need to waste your time studying, Tilly. You're smart enough as it is."
"Says the girl with a scholarship."

The day before I got to the Visions, Tilly was assigned to show me around. We instantly clicked, and then I found out she was my roommate the next day and we frickin' celebrated.

"You know what?" I sighed, putting down the book I hadn't even opened yet. "I'm gonna go for a walk. I still haven't seen much of New York since I got here."

"Want me to come with you?" Grabbing my backpack, which I still hadn't opened yet, I replied,

"Nah, I got this," I replied ,pointing to my mental compass. Matilda just rolled her eyes at me and snarked,

"If you're gone past curfew I'm not covering."

"Mhm. Bye."

Leaving the dorm, I went down the hallway, past the shiny metal and chrome classrooms, before going out the front door, breathing in the fresh air. Jumping down the front steps two at a time, I looked around the block. The day mom and I got here, we unpacked and then I was moving into the school, so I never actually had a chance to see the Big Apple.

Wondering around the streets, I passed a couple parks that I visited and soon spotted an interesting spectacle near the edge of the city. An open sewer with a weird light at the end of it. Curiously, I stepped inside. I know, sewers are mangy and disgusting and why on earth would I ever want to go into one?

Well, I was aching for an adventure. And where do you find adventures?

In creepy, rat-infested sewers of course.

Trudging through the dark, I tried to avoid the shit and who knows what else that was down there, and as the brightness dimmed as took off my backpack and took out a flashlight. I always have useful stuff in their in case of emergencies.

Coming to a gate, I hesitated slightly, then started climbing up, throwing my legs over the side and dropping down. A wet splash made me wince and wipe my face, as I kept going deeper into the sewer.

Eventually, I came to a large clearing, where the roof raised high, and the walls curved outwards. Looking around in awe, I checked the walls, and saw something I was definitely not expecting.

Art. A spray-painted picture of a silhouette, surrounded by bright colours and the words 'Great Expectations'. I instantly fell in love with this graffiti. Going closer, I stroked my fingers along the painted brickwork feeling that it was dry at least. This had been here for a while, and obviously no one had come down here, as the colours were still vibrant. Taking out my phone, I stepped back and was about to take a picture, when a deafening crash shook the ground. Dropping my flashlight in shock, it turned off and I was plunged into pitch black.
