Chapter 1: Here I Am

I slammed my alarm clock. It was 5:30 in the morning. I lifted myself off the bed and rubbed my eyes. It has been twenty years since i saw him. A lot has changed since then. At the age of 18, my parents kicked me out. They were focused on my brother's s success in law. I started to live on my own. I went to veterinarian school to become a vet. At the age of 21, I got my degree. I was good enough to be a veterinarian, but I lacked experience. I worked at three different jobs while going to school. My parents didn't give any money to me when I was kicked out.

I started working at a small vet clinic as an assistant. I only escorted the pets and their owners into the doctors room. I got promoted to assisting the doctor with holding pets down so that the doctor can do an examination on the pet. After I worked there for two years, the doctor recommended me to work as a nurse at a vet hospital in Sanct Sybil. I had nothing to leave behind here at Nobel Michel. Since then, I made preparation to move to Sanct Sybil.

I got the job in an instant. I found a studio near the vet hospital. It had a bathroom. I had a portable electric stove. The studio didn't come with a kitchen. I was fine without the kitchen. After a few months, I found out that I needed to get another job. I got another job at a small cafe. I would be out of the house from 6:30 am to 12:00 am. I knew that I wouldn't get much sleep, but at least I had a roof over my head. The only time I get time off was on Sunday. I would work from 7:00 am to 3 pm at the coffee shop.

Here how my schedule was. I worked as a nurse from 6:30 am to 7 pm on Mondays to Saturdays. I work at the cafe from 7:30 pm to 11:30 am on Mondays to Saturdays. On Sundays, I work from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm at the cafe. Sometimes I would work until 10 am if I need the money for bills.

This brings me to now. I needed to get ready for my job at vet hospital. I went to my bathroom and wash my face. I skin has gotten pale due to the cold weather of the kingdom. I brushed my teeth and brushed my hair. I walked to my drawer to get my sweater and jeans. Then, I had a cup of tea and a piece of toast. I got my heavy warm jacket and head to the vet hospital.

I always walked to my job even on bad weather. I couldn't afford any transportation on my salary. I got to my job and went to the staff room. I hanged my jacket and looked at the mirror. My fixed my image and went to wear my scrubs. After I changed into my scrubs, I went to sit at my office. I had the smallest office out of everyone in the hospital. I didn't mind.

Today, I was helping Doctor Emich with check ups. So far, I have helped with dogs, cats, and rabbits. Some had a cold while others had injuries such as broken bones or cuts behind the ears. These were normal to see at the vet hospital.

It was 2 pm and I was in the doctor's office waiting for the next client. "We were expecting a special client at this time," Dr. Emich said. I didn't know what Doctor Emich meant when he said special. The door open. "Doctor, the special clients are here," a nurse said. "Bring them in," he said. I saw two big dogs come in. {Are they dogs!} They didn't look like normal dogs. Right behind them, I met with two eyes that looked familiar.

"Ah Your Highness, I was expecting you," I heard Dr. Emich said. I knew him.
