Third Person POV - Flashback
It's safe to say that Sukuna had not moved in his spot for the past thirty minutes.
Did he even comprehend what the princess said? Probably not. His mind was just... blank. He was pretty damn sure that he had self-destructed because...
What the hell.
Did he hear that right? Was he hallucinating? Did she really just say that she loves him?
At some point she had kissed his cheek... That did not process at all- he barely even felt it because it was so light. But the bigger question was...
Did he love her back?
"No," Sukuna whispered to himself and subconsciously brought a hand to his head, "No I don't. I tried to kill her when we first met..."
'But why did you stay?'
A pause...
There it is again. That same, old question. Every time he thought about it, he would always answer 'to discover her unknown power' but now? Is that the same case? No matter how many times he told himself, it was no longer convincing.
Because he stayed because he cared.
Whether he liked it or not, he came back every single time without hesitation. He just expected she would come by everyday and by the off chance she didn't, his day just got a bit more boring.
"Still," Sukuna heaved a sigh and laid down in the grass with his hands behind his head, "I couldn't possibly love her... I haven't felt an emotion like that when I was a human, what makes me think I can feel that now that I am a curse?"
He watched the stars come into play before closing his eyes, 'Maybe it's best if I leave... She won't be back anymore, anyways...'
"What a shame..." Sukuna muttered as he laid there in the peaceful quiet of dusk, "To think...
I actually found somebody that made me regret I was a curse..."
He chuckled bitterly before he decided it was best to try and sleep his problems away.
"H..."
"Hel..."
"H-Help!"
Sukuna immediately jolted awake at the distressed shout and turned to his left. He sharply inhaled at the sight of three familiar children all battered and injured in front of him.
'The kids...?' Sukuna squinted his eyes in puzzlement and slight worry, 'Why... were they coming from the direction of the palace?'
"Oi, brats! What happened?!" Sukuna hastily stood up and inspected the two crying boys and the unconscious girl in Mitsuki's arms.
