"So can you fly?" Tony asked you. Your thoughts raced as you tried to think of a response for him. "I- I don't remember..." You stammered. You don't remember?! That's the best you could come up with?! Say goodbye to the Avengers...  "What the hell do you mean 'you don't remember'?" He asked you, surprised. "Well, I- I was in an accident a few days ago and my memory has been very spotty since then," you responded. "Alright, feathers. How about you stay here at the compound for a few days, and see what you can figure out? We'll talk again when you remember," Tony said, ushering you out the door. You folded your wings back in, feeling the slits in your back open to accommodate.

"Capcicle! Perfect timing! This is..." Tony said. "Y/n," you filled in for him. "Right, anyway, she's going to be staying here for a few days, can you show her a room? Great thanks!" Tony said as he slipped back into his lab and shut the door behind him.

"Hello, y/n. I'm Steve, Steve Rogers. It's nice to meet you," Steve said warmly, shaking your hand. Your stomach was doing all sorts of flips as you shook hands with one of the fictional men you have grown to love so much. "Sorry about Tony, he's... well, he's Tony. How about we find you a room to stay in?" He continued. You nodded and Cap led the way through the halls to your room. Your stomach was doing flips the whole time, you were walking with the Captain America, the man you've had a crush on since you first started obsessing over Marvel.

"Here we are," Steve said, motioning toward your new room. "I'm right across the hall, if you need anything just let me know!" "Thank you," you responded, slipping into your room. You awkwardly shut the door as Cap walked away. Oh my god, I just talked to Captain America!!  You could hardly believe what was happening to you.

You looked around your new room. The walls were a light gray, almost white. And very bare. A full-sized bed was in the middle of the wall across from you, a nightstand on one side with a lamp and a clock, and a dresser on the other side. To your right, there was a door. You opened it, revealing a good-sized bathroom complete with a shower and a linen closet. Back in your room, you decided you wanted to move your furniture around. You moved the bed to the wall opposite the bathroom and kept the nightstand where it was. You moved the dresser to the wall of the door you came in. You stepped back to take a look at your work. "Much more open. Now this room almost looks bigger than my apartment back home," you said to yourself.

Deciding that you might as well get some rest, as it was around 9 pm, you flopped onto your bed. As much as you tried, you could not seem to fall asleep. You groaned, looking at your clock. 3 am. You sighed, realizing that there was no way you were going to be sleeping tonight.

You opened your door quietly and sneaked down the hall and down the two flights of stairs. You walked around the main floor aimlessly, just to pass time. You came across a door to the yard behind the compound. You opened it quietly and went out into the cool night.

Now's as good a time as ever to find out if I can fly, you thought to yourself. Unfurling your wings, you stretched them out, reveling in the amazing feeling of the muscles contracting. You tried pushing your wings down, and with even such a small amount of effort, you were lifted off the ground. You allowed yourself to come back to the ground and you smiled to yourself. "God- this is incredible," you whispered to yourself. Figuring you could go higher, you tried again, putting more effort into the takeoff. You were well over 4 feet off the ground with that, and you flapped your wings again and rose another good amount of feet. Soon, you were higher up than the roof of the compound.

I can't just keep going up, you thought as you began to also wonder how you were going to get down. You saw a light turn on in the compound. Automatically assuming someone realized you were gone, you swore to yourself as you tried to bring yourself down to the ground again. You landed roughly in the grass, using your momentum and rolling forward. Your ankles were sore,  but overall you were unharmed. You pulled your wings back in and ran back inside, as quietly as possible.

You made it back up to your room and realized that no one had noticed you were gone. Instead, screams sounded throughout the halls, coming from the room next to Cap's. You saw light coming from under the door. I wonder if that's the light I saw, you thought as you closed your door, back in your room. The compound was big, so who knows where that light was from. What you did know was that no one noticed you were missing... and that you could fly!

You woke the next morning exhausted. You hardly got any sleep at all last night, after spending the night tossing around in bed and teaching yourself how to fly. And then the screams that sounded through the compound until the early morning hours. You got out of bed and crawled into the shower, turning the water to cold to try and wake yourself up.

After your shower, you wandered out of your room and saw Cap waiting across the hall. "Hey, y/n, ready for breakfast?" He asked. You nodded, realizing how hungry you were. "You didn't have to wait for me, Steve, I would have found my way on my own," you told him as the two of you headed toward the kitchen. "Oh, I know. But what kind of neighbor would I be if I didn't show our newest resident the way to the food?" He said, smiling at you. God, he's handsome, you thought, looking away quickly as you felt your face heat up.

As you and Cap made it to the kitchen, everyone seemed to look up at you in unison, all likely wondering the same thing: who are you? You looked away from all the stares nervously. You were in the same room as all of your favorite heroes! This has to be a dream, you thought.

"Hey, feathers! Glad to see you're still here," Tony said, walking into the room. "Good morning," you stated back. You thought about the conversation the two of you had last night, wondering if you should tell him you figured out you can fly. You decided against it, thinking that you should get in at least one more night of practice. "Who's this, Stark?" the red-headed Natasha asked. "Ah- that's..." He stammered. "Y/n," you finished for him. You started to understand why Tony has all of his nicknames for everyone. He can never remember anyone's name! Good god, he's so far into his own world he can't even remember the name of a person he met less than 24 hours ago, you thought.

Steve was still standing by you and you glanced at him. He began introducing everyone that was sitting at the table. "This is Natasha, Clint, Wanda, Vision, you already met Tony, and Bucky," he said, ending on the man sitting away from everyone. Oh my-- it's Bucky Barnes! As in, James Buchanan Barnes, the Winter Soldier! Cap's best friend! You thought, getting more and more excited with each passing second. Bucky must have noticed you staring because he locked eye contact with you, piercing you with his brilliant blue eyes.

"It's nice to meet you all," you told them. "So what can you do? If you're here you've got to have some quirk of sorts," Natasha pried. She didn't seem rude about it, she was just curious about the new person in the compound.

"I can fly."
