THE OTHER kids and I started picking up buckets and putting out the fires on the houses. ruffnut and tuffnut fought over a bucket, while fishlegs, astrid, snotlout, and I picked up our own and moved forward.

it was always like this with the twins, they fought over the littlest of things all the time. and snotlout and fishlegs fought over ruffnuts attention. (although I never really understood what they saw in her)

while all of us were putting out fires, horrendous hiccup was stuck with gobber, being his little "apprentice"

around here in berk, killing a dragon was a big deal. but it also mattered as to which dragon you killed. there's nadders, which gets you noticed, then there's gronckles, which because of their weight and size are a little harder to take down, and considered a mighty job. but zipplebacks make you famous, and then there's night furies and skrills. then there's the monstrous nightmare, which only the best vikings go after.

the village has never, ever seen a night in years. they are one of the rarest dragons.

skrills are like nigh furies, maybe even rarer than them, so when stoick saw one, instead of killing it, he imprisoned it, kept it hostage.

while the rest of us were trying to clean up the mess that the dragons made, hiccup was out there creating a bigger mess.

we watched as the dragons backed away, some carrying sheep for their meals. everybody gathered in a single around stoick and hiccup, watching stoick get mad at his son.

"ok but I hit a night fury" like anyone would believe that.

stoick grabbed him and started dragging him away "its not like the last few times dad, I really hit it this time. you guys were busy and I had a clear shot. it went down just off raven point, if we could send a search party...." stock stopped walking and turned to hiccup.

"stop! just stop!" he yelled. "everytime you step outside, disaster follows (did he lie though?) can you not see that I have bigger problems? winter is almost here! I have an entire village to feed!" he explained.

hiccup looked around for a second and muttered something to his dad that we didn't hear. but it apparently made his dads mood even worse.

"this isn't a joke, hiccup! why can't you follow the simplest orders?" he sighed

"I cant stop myself. i see a dragon, and I just have to kill it. its who I am dad" that was a total lie. hiccup probably coldn't kill a mosquito to save his life. forget about a dragon.

they finished their little argument and he said something to gobber, who wacked him on the head and was leading him back to his house.

the other teens teased him as he passed us, but I just stayed quiet. I didn't blame hiccup for who he was, it wasn't his fault that he isn't a killer. sometimes, I felt a little bad for him.

gobber pushed snotlout and walked away as astrid watched from beside me with a bored expression.

what we didn't expect for the future, was to see him in training.
