I don't need your help,
and I don't need sympathy.
I don't need you to lower the bar for me.
"I still cannot believe you got yourself akumatized!" I slapped him on his hand lightly and he let out a soft chuckle. "You think it's funny?"
"Well, considering that you're clutching the end of my shirt with your other hand, yes." I looked down to see my hand firmly grasping down on Luka's shirt. I jerked my hand back and folded my arms.
"I hate you."
"You can just keep telling yourself that," he gave me a friendly smile and planted a kiss on my cheek, making me turn red. "Cause we both know that you're just lying to yourself."
"Did you hear about the party that Marinette is hosting?" I asked, desperately trying to change the topic.
He raised his eyebrow in suspicion, "I did. Isn't it tonight though?"
I froze.
Tonight? I thought it was next week!
"Really? Then I guess I'm not going. I don't exactly want to go by myself either."

"You're not going to mess up my nails, right?"
"Relax. Do you see these nails? I do my own nails." He held up his own hand to show off his black-polished nails, painted nearly to perfection. He rummaged through his desk drawers until he found one with a series of different colors and brands.
"Why do you have so many different colors? Sparkly, Glossy, Neon... You only ever wear black nail polish." He shrugged, barely making eye contact with me.
"Rose tries a lot of different nail polish types. She gives the ones she doesn't like to me." He set the last color out on the table and began to hold each of them up to my skin and eyes. After a couple of minutes, he decided on a light blue.
He painted my nails ever so carefully, being sure to not let the nail polish touch my skin. He acted as if he had painted his nails a million times.
"It compliments your eyes." He took a step back, admiring his work. "It looks good," He finally decided.
Luka had somehow convinced me to go to the party, and he was going with me.
"Come on, we're gonna be late!"
---
When the chiming of the bells announced our arrival, we were greeted by the smiling face of Marinette.
"I'm so glad you guys could make it! Everyone is upstairs on the balcony," Luka gave me a look as if to say 'You ready?' when Marinette grabbed my arm. "You go ahead Luka, Y/N and I will meet you up there soon."
The bluenette pulled me towards the back of the bakery, ripping my arm off in the process, "I really need your help. Adrien is coming! I didn't think he would be here."
"Okay... What's the big deal? I thought you wanted to get closer to him."
"Well- I do. But he brought KAGAMI! I can't get closer to him with her around," I quite liked Kagami. She knew what she liked, and could focus on it.
"Marinette, I am not going help you screw Kagami over so you can look good in front of Adrien." I crossed my arms unimpressed, and she quickly made a recovery.
"I don't mean it like- that... If you could just get her away from him for an hour- thirty minutes- FIVE MINUTES, then I could confess and-" I knew how these things went. "I will confess this time; I swear!"
I agreed. She finally let me go, and I followed the loud noises upstairs.
"Would you mind helping me bring the food up here, Kagami?" She unhooked her arm from Adrien and nodded, walking downstairs. As soon as she was out of sight, Marinette rushed over to Adrien. 5 minutes starts now.
"We just need croissants and macaroons; they should be on the counter. The pizza is going to arrive soon as well. And... Oh! The drinks are in the fridge," I ran through my mind, trying to figure out if I was missing anything. "The pizza should also be coming in a couple of minutes. I can carry everything upstairs if you could wait outside for the pizza?"
"I can do that." She stated, and I rushed the bottled soda upstairs.
"Thanks, Y/N."
"Thank you!"
"Yes! The drinks have arrived."
"Thanks, Y/N. It means a lot to us that you're helping with the party."
Once everything was set out, I met Kagami outside.
"How are you doing?" Kagami didn't bat an eye before responding.
"I am doing fine. How are you and Luka?"
"We're both doing okay... But we're not exactly an item-"
"You two seem very close. You guys look like a couple," My cheeks burned a little before shaking my head.
The small yellow bike pulled up next to me and Kagami, dropping the pizza in our hands before quickly rolling away.
"Pizza's here!" I heard Nino call out from the back of the room, causing everyone to huddle around the table.
I was enjoying my first slice of pizza when my phone began to ring loud enough to where it grabbed everyone's attention. I excused myself into the hallway.
"Hello?" I plugged my ears to drown out any of the remaining noise.
"Hey, I am so sorry that you have to leave your party, but can you please come to the hospital? It's an emergency." It didn't take any thinking to figure out the reason.
