Five Years Later
"Are you sure this is what you want to do?" Luka looked me in the eyes, throwing the last suitcase into the car. Afterward, my father approached me, placing his hand on my shoulder.
"I think you would benefit from getting away from here," he gave me the warm smile that I once longed for when I was a teenager. I nodded my head slowly, taking in his words. I didn't want to leave Paris. I would be leaving what I have known for the past few years. It didn't make any sense.
Luka could see my mind racing and decided to speak, "Besides, you want to open your own cafe. We have already looked into different locations in the US."
"I know you're right... It's just that I am not sure if-" Kagami. Adrien. Marinette. Alya. They would all be gone, "I at least want to see them before I go. I can call them right now; we can leave tomorrow."
"Our lease ends today. If we are leaving, we need to do it now."
"I am sure we could find a place to spend the night," I urged. If I kept on bugging him, he would eventually agree. I am not ready to leave the city where I found myself.
Luka let out a sad sigh, his eyes falling to the floor, "I can drive to the airport. That way, you can talk with them on video before we get on the plane." Luka's attention was diverted as his phone began to buzz, "Hello? No, this is Luka Couffaine. Sure! I will tell her." He fumbled with his phone for a couple of seconds, leaving me to await the news anxiously, "We got the cafe!"
"That doesn't sound- too bad I guess. I still get to say goodbye to them..."
"Y/N, Luka! I want to give you something before you go," Marinette was sprinting towards us, with a small red container in hand, "Here! Wait until after the call to open it," She came to a stop, visibly tired, sticking out the box to me. I took the box from her, nodding my head, "I have to go, but I'll talk to you guys later!"
-------
"Y/N!" The girls squealed in sync as I joined the call. I was still curious as to what was in the box, but Luka insured me that it was not anything that I have never seen, "How are you? Where are you? What are you doing?"
"We are currently driving; good thing the airport isn't far away," I panned the camera over to Luka, who in response gave a friendly wave. We chatted for the entire car ride until we arrived at the airport, "I will see you guys soon, okay? I'll text the group chat when we land."
I got out of the car, walking into the airport, ready to start the next chapter of my life.
----
As soon as we landed, I raced into our rental car, eager to open whatever Marinette gave us. As I pealed the lid off the box, a bright flash disrupted my vision and once it cleared, a familiar creature formed.
"Sass!" Luka reached for him, giving him a quick hug. "It's great to see you again," Sass flew over to me, resting on my leg, "I didn't think I'd ever get to see you after we defeated Hawkmoth."
"Yesss. It isss a pleasssure to sssee you again asss well." He smiled at Luka as he pulled out a small tin container containing miniature rats, popping one into his own mouth.
Marinette
Did you receive the miraculous?
Yes, but why did you give it to us?
I thought it would be cruel to keep the kwamis in the miracle box, so I passed them all out to their owners. :)
Oh! That's awesome. Luka was very pleased to see Sass again.
I put my phone away, turning back to Luka, "We should get a move on. Right now we are aiming to get to the apartment at seven."
I pulled out of the parking lot, with Luka and Sass right next to me.
