“So it’s settled then? Dr.Gregg looked at Dro. We are really going to go crash her wedding?” The thought amused him. He knew that what he was suggesting was somewhat wrong but he desperately needed them to have a happy ending.
“Yea but I can’t go like this. Look at me I’ma mess! My clothes are musty and I know my breath smells like hot shit.” He chuckled, covering up his mouth.
Toni watched the exchange silently. She was not so sure about this plan. What if Raine rejected him? Then what? Was it fair to wait until she was about to say her nuptials to go to her?
She wanted Dro to be happy but if it meant hurting someone else then she was not so sure. She could only imagine how she would feel if it were done to her. Unsure of what to say, she decided to say nothing.
She had just gotten her son back. Did she really need to give him a Motherly lecture? Her subconscious willed her to speak up as it so often did but she fought the urge and kept her lips sealed.
“We can shower up and change and then we can meet back here in like an hour.” Dro suggested.
“What about Janae? Are you going to call her and ask her if she will keep Jr longer?”
“Damn. I don’t even know. I mean do you think that’s too much to ask of her?”
Now this Toni could do. “I can keep him. I could go pick him up and bring him back to my house. I’d love to spend some quality time with him.” She smiled. That was the truth.
Dro scratched his head. “Yeah.. I’m cool with that.”
Toni got up and waved to them. “Good luck.”
“Thanks.” Dro gave her a quick hug.
“You know.. for everything.”
Toni smiled after returning his embrace. Again something urged her to stop all of this nonsense but she chose to ignore it. In lieu of not speaking on it she just left quietly.
“Ight so this is what Im gonna do Doc. I’ma just shoot to the mall and pick out some new gear. I just don’t feel like going home. Could I shower here?”
“Sure.” The small bathroom had a shower that he sometimes used.
Dro got up, grabbing his keys and left.
It was only when Dr.Gregg was alone that he started to have second thoughts. After all he was only human also. People made mistakes. What if this was a bad idea? How far back would it set Raine and him?
There was no turning back now. He went through the process of getting ready and an hour and a half later he found himself in his car. On the road ready to stop a wedding with Dro.
