-       The Dark Kingdom -

Colin was the kind of boy that would sometimes stick around by himself at places you would never think to visit, like the school library or the empty swings by the playground near the school. He was there all alone doing nothing special, just thinking for himself, being pleased of just... being... until I showed up, and he would light up and start talking to me like usual, and if I asked him what he was doing there all alone, he would be surprised wondering why he wouldn't.

He was the kind of boy that would sometimes speak awkwardly loudly, and other times he would talk without even moving his lips.

He was the kind of boy that would take randomly long time to decide what snack to buy when we went to a grocery store after school. Sometimes he would just grab an apple, other times he would find some strange exotic snack from a part of the store you didn't even know existed.

He was the kind of boy that would finish his plate before everyone else while eating school lunch, and the next day, -forget to eat; the one who was always the first to shower after gym class and be putting on his last sock before anyone else had even entered the shower, and other days not even bother to shower.

He was the kind of boy that would roll up his sleeves to his elbows, and then let one roll down unnoticed walking around for hours with one sleeve up and one down.

He was the kind of boy that would get so over impulsive and then overreact from its consequences, sometimes the strangest things, like almost stepping in a puddle, or spilling coffee on the table.

He was the kind of boy that would be obnoxiously corrective and use the word "actually" way too often. He would give you a lecture about the environment if you accidentally threw away trash in the wrong recycling station, and the next day, he would throw plastic in the compost.

He was the kind of boy that would decline if you offered to buy him something to eat for the movie when at the cinema, and then steal popcorn from you during a distracting scene.

He was the kind of boy that would sit in the most awkward positions on his chair in class with his butt too far back, sticking out under the backrest, or other days leaning his back against it with his arms hanging down behind it and his butt so far forward, you could have barely called it 'sitting' on the chair.

He was the kind of boy that would stick pencils up his nose and sit quietly, the whole class if he had to, just waiting for a reaction. He was the kind of boy that would leave his stuff around everywhere as if the whole world was his own room at home, one time finding his skateboard still left by the ramps at the pier, or always leaving his phone somewhere, miraculously without losing it, always having his sweaters laying around in my house, coming over to pick them up when they were clean...

He was the kind of boy that would shove his change directly into his pockets that had holes in them, constantly dropping coins, of which he would then go ahead to pick up and shove right back down into the same pockets.

He was the kind of boy that had a very small bladder and had to rush to the bathroom after drinking too much fizzy water, and the kind of boy that would forget to pull up his fly...

He was the kind of boy that would ask questions he already knew the answers to, just to start a conversation, the one who always wanted to test everyone's limits and pull the same jokes over and over again, being deliberately obnoxious just for the sake of things always happening.

He was the kind of boy that would enter your house and start playing videogames in your room before you yourself had even had the time to put your shoes on the shoe rack. The one who was always first to pursue an activity with full enthusiasm and excitement.
