"Keep the girl."
.
.
.
'What...?'
"Father," Was the first thing that came out of your mouth. "How could you?"
You couldn't believe your ears, your father – the only man you've ever trusted – was simply casting you aside for a rock . In his defence though: it was a shiny one .
That was the first time you saw the captain look genuinely surprised. His eyebrows reached his hairline and his lips were slightly parted.
"Father?" You sent him a desperate look, pleading him to change his answer and set you free.
Then Dazai's forehead creased, brown eyes narrowing in your direction. The suspicious gaze he sent you then melted into a knowing smile.
"So that's how it is..." He then pushed you into Kunikida arms and turned towards the vice-admiral once more.
Atsushi then glared at your father. "You're willing to sacrifice your daughter, your own flesh and blood... That's an entirely new low!"
You sneered in disdain. ' Look who's talking. '
"Leave him be, Atsushi." The brunet stretched out his arm as to stop his subordinate from stepping closer to the edge. "Very well then, if you won't tell us the location of the ruby I'm forced to throw the woman overboard."
Your father tried to hide his smug expression, yet he failed miserably.
"...Is what I'd like to say, unfortunately you still know the ruby's location and I very much need it." He sighed, "Therefore, I'd like to make you an offer. On the tenth sunset from today we'll meet at Billbeat island, where I will give you miss (Y/n) in exchange for the Riot Ruby. In the meantime she will be travelling with me. Oh, and no need to worry for her, I promise to ensure her safety until our meeting." The captain smiled wryly.
"What makes you think I would ever make a deal with a pirate?" He scoffed. "Open fire!"
You hid your face in the blond's chest in fear. However, the blasts never came.
"Sir!" One of the navy officers ran towards the vice-admiral. "The cannons won't fire, sir!"
"What?"
"Something's blocking them, we can't fire a single one!"
Dazai gave the marine commander a smug smile. "Ten days, vice-admiral. No more, no less." He turned towards the rest of the crew. "Set sail!"
"You filthy scumbag, you'll pay for this!"
"Au revoir, lord Swift." The captain waved his hat in the air. "I do look forward to our next encounter!"
As the ship sailed further and further away you could feel the aching pain in your heart grow. You knew you and your father grew apart ever since your mother died, but you never expected him to throw you away so cruelly. You fell to your knees and curled into yourself.
"Oh dear, that was an unexpected reaction." The captain raised an eyebrow. "And here I thought you were one of those women who refuse to cry in front of others. My mistake."
"Enough, Dazai." Kunikida scolded, "No need to rub salt in the wound."
"(Y/n)..." Atsushi whispered loud enough for you to hear. When you sent him a nasty glare through glassy eyes he sighed and turned to the captain. "I don't understand Captain Dazai, why did we leave? He definitely knows the location of the ruby, based on his reaction at least... then that whole 'ten sunset' story, what was that all about?"
