Dazai had spent the entire day in the medical bay, Yosano had given him some of their ever-lasting ice – gifted to them by none other than the blonde witch herself. It was almost time for dinner by the time he decided to return to his quarters. When he did, the sight in front of him was... peculiar.
You were sleeping soundly with your cheek pressed against his desk. He couldn't imagine how uncomfortable that must've been, not to mention how terrible for your back and posture. But it was cute nonetheless. There were books scattered all over his desk and Dazai couldn't help but give a little smile.
At least, until he saw you were drooling on one of his books.
He grabbed the cover from underneath and yanked it away, the result of his actions being your face slamming against the wooden surface.
"Jesus Christ!" You hissed, "What the fuck!"
Dazai snickered at your reaction. You rubbed your eyes and took in your surroundings. "Good morning, sleeping beauty~" He sang mockingly. "You've got a little something on your chin, darling."
You shot him one of the meanest glares you could muster while cleaning the drool from your chin. "Back already? I thought I managed to do a little more damage than that." You nodded at his crotch area, then looked right back up. "Guess I shouldn't have pulled my punches."
His smirk was ever-so-present and you hated how much he could get under your skin just by doing that. "I think you did more than enough damage, princess. Besides, I was in the med bay all day, I think that's a fair bit of time to rest."
"What are you talking about?" You questioned with a tilt of your head. "You couldn't have been in there for more than a couple of hours, at most."
Dazai's smirk turned into a full-fledged grin, "Oh dear, you must've been really tired to have slept that long. The sun is setting, princess."
"What?" Your eyes bulged out of your head upon hearing that information. "You jest."
"I fear I'm telling you the truth, I believe it's around seven in the evening. If you wish to know the precise time, I believe Kunikida would be your best option."
You stood up and slammed the door open. The captain was not joking, the sun was in fact setting and you had slept for almost the entire day. "Oh gods, I can't believe this." You ran your hand up and down your face to get rid of all remaining drowsiness.
"You must've been really tired, princess." He stood next to you in the doorway.
"Yeah well that doesn't-" You stopped mid-sentence and stared at the pirate's face.
He furrowed his eyebrows and blinked a few times, "Is something wrong?"
You shook your head as your (e/c) hues met his chocolate ones, equally as determined not to lose eye contact even though neither of you understood why. You gulped and averted your gaze first, opting for staring off into the horizon. "I missed the shot on purpose."
Dazai remained silent, both of you did for a little while.
You sighed, "Then again, you already knew that."
"I did." The man was serious, his expression gave nothing away and you smiled gently. He isn't mocking you at the moment, which is a big step forward.
"You also knew I would've shown Kunikida the key."
"I did."
"And you knew I would've jumped off the cliff with you."
Dazai smiled a little at that. "To be honest, I never expected you to offer your life by throwing yourself at the guards."
