"But-"

"No buts about it Miss Mason, or may I say Mrs. Rivers. You broke the law. For that, there must be punishment. I gave you two choices, that is the best that I can do."

"My daughter just turned eight and her father isn't hurting anyone. He hasn't even told a single No-Maj. He's safe, I promise."

"There are no guarantees when it comes to safety, Miss Mason. No matter how old your daughter is, the law is the law and it can not be bent for anyone. Not even a MACUSA worker."

"Mister President. I wouldn't have married Anthony if I wasn't sure that he would be reliable."

"There is no reliability with No-Maj's. That is why we have the law."

"Please, Mister President. I'm begging you."

"I'm sorry, Miss Mason. I gave you your choices. Move from the country or say goodbye to your husband so he may be obliviated."

"Fine ... If there's nothing that you can do, then I must make a choice. I will owl you tomorrow about my decision."

"Good luck, Miss Mason. I will put in a good word for you at the Ministry of Magic."

Aria crept down the stairs of her well furnished home, careful not to make a sound. She sucked in a breath when a step creaked. She heard the voices in the kitchen pause for only a half a second before continuing. Down some more, she skipped one, knowing for sure that she would be caught if she dare set a toe on that one.

It wasn't as though Aria would be in trouble with her parents if she was caught. She had done this many times before. But tonight her mother made her promise not to sneak around because 'Mommy and Daddy have something that they had to talk about'. However, Aria had held her crossed fingers behind her back, countering the promise. Plus, Aria was eight year old now. Whatever her mother and father had to say, they could say it in front of her. She was old enough to know.

"The President talked as though he knew I would choose to move instead of Obliviate you. He said that he would put a good word in for me with the Ministry in England."

"Would we really move to England, though?" That was her father's voice. He sounded almost excited.

Aria took a quick glance from the kitchen and into the living room. Her mother paced back and forth while her father sat on the sofa. He looked over to the doorway, but Aria pulled her head back just in time. She let out a slow breath. Hopefully she hadn't been caught.

"I imagined maybe moving to Italy, perhaps Scotland."

Aria's mother gave a soft glare. "We've discussed this. We are never moving to Italy nor Scotland. I'm not up for learning another language. I'm sure Aria isn't either."
