You woke up in Hotch's bed all alone.
You felt cold, so you grabbed the dark blue sweatshirt that Hotch had let you wear over the past couple days.
There were voices down stairs and since it was your off day, you felt bad, knowing that Jack was here and you were intruding.
Trying to be as quiet as possible, you walked down the stairs awkwardly making sure not to interrupt the conversation you heard between Hotch and Jack.
"Good morning sleepy head." Hotch said with a light smile.
You looked over at the couch to see Jack's eyes light up when he saw you and Hotch keep his smile.
Jack got up from his place and ran over to you, almost tackling you in a huge hug.
You giggled and hugged back, looking at Hotch apologetically.
"Is Y/N gonna spend the day with us!?" Jack asked excitedly.
Hotch stood up from the couch and walked over to the two of you before replying "Well, that's up to Y/N, but I would love for you to come."
You sighed and said "I don't wanna invade your time with him. I can just go home."
Hotch then countered your statement "Isn't your dad still in town though? I don't want you getting hurt. I wouldn't want to have to go to jail."
You softly chuckled at him. You had explained everything to Hotch the other day and he was very understanding of the situation and offered to let you stay with him for as long as you needed, which was incredibly sweet.
"Anyways, you're not meddling, we both want you to be there!" Hotch said with the cutest smile that you just couldn't help yourself.
You smiled to match his and gave in "Okay... I'll spend the day with you guys!"
The Hotchner men began to cheer leading to Aaron picking up Jack and dancing around with him before Jack yelled "Can we have pancakes for breakfast?!" giggling at his own suggestion.
Hotch replied "Of course buddy! I'll go pull out the stuff for it."
He set Jack down and Hotch walked to the kitchen as Jack ran off to his room to play with toy as he waited for breakfast.
"Dad of the year, am I right?" you said with a smile, leaning against a counter as Hotch began to pull out some pancake mix.
Hotch chuckled and replied "I wish... My kid doesn't even see me half of the time."
You shrugged "But you always try and do you see the way he lights up around you? I think you're an amazing father, wayyyy better than mine."
He glanced over to you with a slight look of pity before returning to the burner and pancake mix that he just made.
"Anywho, what are the big plans for today?"
Hotch smiled and said "Jack wants to go to the park. Play on the playground and play some soccer. I'd wear something easy to move in."
You giggled and responded "Alright. Sounds like it'll be fun!"
"I hope so." Hotch whispered, with a slight look of sadness that you could tell was an insecurity of his. Not being able to please his son.
You knew that he would always be his sons hero, but Hotch wasn't as confident in that as anyone else.
Hotch made a bunch of pancakes and you went and got Jack so you all could dig in.
