It's been a month and everything seems to be going back to the way it was before. People start returning to the city and going about their daily lives as before. Markus spoke with the president and came to terms. Androids are to be treated just as humans, so they have all the rights we have and all crimes will be punished just as a crime a human would commit.
Dad let Connor stay with us and Connor got to keep his job at the precinct and is still our partner too. So today is just another boring day at the precinct... or so I thought.
"Hank! Connor! (Y/n)! My office now!" Fowler yells out to us before closing the door to his office.
The three of us jump and scramble to put the UNO cards away. Connor and I hop off Dad's desk and Dad stashes the cards in a drawer in his desk.
"Now I know how you feel all the time, Dad," I mumble.
The three of us make our way to the Captain's office. Dad sits down in the chair in front of Fowler while Connor and I stand.
"Sir, if this is about us playing UNO—" Connor starts.
Fowler holds up his hand, silencing him. "I don't care what you guys were doing as long as your work gets done. I called you here because I have another case for you three. Hank, you're gonna be leading this case." Fowler tells us.
I smile. "Awesome!" I cheer. They look at me and I clear my throat. "Sorry, not awesome there's a dead body but that we got another case..." I say quietly.
Dad looks back at Fowler. "Who's gonna be on this case with me, besides these two." Dad points to Connor and me.
"Chris, Ben, Gavin—"
Connor and Dad groan while I smile once again.
"Not this asshole. Anybody but him." Dad says.
"I'm sorry, Hank, but you'll need as much help as you can get and Gavin's not on a case right now so he's stuck with you," Fowler explains.
"Whatever," Dad grumbles. "What do you need us to do?"
"I need you three to head over to the crime scene."
"Right now?" Connor asks.
"No, next year," Fowler replies sarcastically. "Yes, right now! Go!" He shoos us away but not before giving Dad the location to the scene.
We get in Dad's car and he drives us to the scene where officers are already there and news reporters and civilians crowd around the holographic police tape. We get out of the car and make our way through the crowd while reporters try to ask us questions.
"Can you confirm that this was a homicide?"
"Do you have an ID on the victim?"
"What exactly happened?"
Dad stops in his tracks and looks at them. "Look, we just got here. I don't know shit about what's going on, okay?"
"Are you the lead investigator on this case, Lieutenant?" A scrawny, middle-aged man with blond hair and green eyes asks. He holds the mic out for Dad.
Dad ignores him and we walk through the crime tape and to the house where Ben is waiting outside for us to give us a rundown on the situation.
"Hank, (Y/n), Connor." Ben greets us.
"Hey Ben," Dad says. "What happened here?"
Ben looks down at the tablet in his hand then looks back up. "Um... I'm not sure if you want to have (Y/n) going in there."
I scrunch my eyebrows in confusion. "I've seen plenty of bodies before. What makes this one different?"
Ben looks at Dad and Connor and they both shrug.
