Mikoto rarely shared this with anyone, but she still had nightmares about Death Reach. The silent killer who could kill powerful Level 5s with just the slip of his or her knife (Mikoto still doesn't know if Death Reach is male or female.)
There were still nights she'd go to bed, and then she would see the dark assasin closing in on her quick as a shadow.. terribly skillful, unmerciful, hungry for death.
Sometimes Mikoto would even wake up crying.
It couldn't be helped.. the time Death Reach had chosen to come hunting for Mikoto the first time, she had been framed for a murder and then turned into a vicious Vasto Lorde powerful enough in it's rageful rampage, to destroy the Windowless Building in two blows, a feat that not even a nuclear bomb could exceed.
Next to Zeref, Ulquiorra and Asgawrath, Death Reach was probably one of the only enemies Mikoto ever truly extensively feared with all her being. It was never power that made Mikoto fear enemies, she had long learned from her inner Hollow, that there was always somebody stronger then the next enemy in the long endless game of battle.
Enemies like Diablo, Black Whisper, some of the high level Espada, Mikoto could respect them, grudgingly at least. They were powerful, they knew it, and were proud of it. Their motives were straight foward, however strong or cunning they might be.
Zeref, however, it was hard to see him as evil.. which scared Mikoto deeply, because she didn't know how she would ever be able to fight against somebody who put up such an air of innocence and suffering.
Asgawrath's stalkerish obsession with Mikoto, had almost scarred her on the inside..
Ulquiorra, his emptiness, his empty shell of a self that held no emotion.. like some sort of drone, used to scare Mikoto to a great degree... it was always the enemies with disturbing and extremely twisted motives that scared Mikoto.. because it was no telling what they'd do...
Death Reach hunted Level 5s for trophies.. she wanted to hunt Mikoto down like a deer then bag her and tag her. If that wasn't a disturbing motive, what was?
"You've heard huh?" Mikoto said shakily as Death Reach stood above her. "You've heard about me getting my powers back.."
Death Reach remained silent.. instead, she drew a long nodachi sword from her back.. only this sword was different from Kanzaki's blade. It had a fine seratted edged that was so small, it could barely be seen by the naked eye.. and from the serrations.. there were energy sparks....some sort of plasma... a weapon designed to quickly saw the enemy to pieces.
Mikoto could tell the sword wasn't made out of any kind of metal that could be magnetised... her electrical senses told her that much.
Mikoto had barely stood a chance against Death Reach when she had the combined power of a Dragon Slayer and 100 percent of her esper power.. what chance did she have at only 85 percent Level 5 and none of her other abilities..?
"If you're going to do it.." Mikoto said. "Then fine.. but don't go after any more Level 5s in this city... leave Azure, Rhode, Kuroko, Misaki.. and everybody else alone... I'm your last trophy, got it?"
"You're in no position to make demands of that nature.." said Death Reach as she raised her blade. "Though I admit.. this form of execution is quite distasteful... killing you while you have no way to fight back at full strength makes this a complete bore.."
Suddenly, Death Reach's blade met a mideavel blade, Erza had come to and using the speed of her Soaring Armor, moved in to intercept Death Reach in record time.
"You'll have to get through me if you want her.." Erza growled as she bashed Death Reach's blade away..."
"Oh.." Is that so?" said Death Reach, swinging her blade for another attack..
