Taehyung's POV
Of course I am jealous of Jungkook for having the courage to ask y/n on a date. Why would I not be? However, I know that whoever y/n chooses is her decision and even if that person is not me, I can't be selfish and complain. Sighing to myself, I shake my head. The world does not revolve around me and it doesn't revolve around y/n either. The world revolves around everyone and so I need to put into perspective how insignificant my pain is compared to the size of the Earth if I get rejected.
After all, how can I be that hurt? I have only known y/n for a while. She is no goddess or fairy or some other fantasy creature, she is just a human, like me. I need to stop putting her up on a pedestal and ignoring her flaws as if they don't exist.
If anything, it is selfish of me to do this to her. I should know, as a famous celebrity. Idolising people can end up hurting them and yourself if you go too far. The person being idolised is being held up to a standard that they can't even dream of keeping and the person idolising them will end up disappointed and plummet back to reality when they realise that who they think that person is can never be anything but fantasy.
I lie in bed as I watch y/n stumble past, her happiness somehow throwing me deeper into my thoughts. She must be excited. Of course she is. The people she has looked up to for years and admired from afar have invited her to stay with them temporarily and now she is going on a date with one of the most sought after men at the moment. What could be more perfect?
Jungkook's POV
Slowly, a figure makes their way out of the door, their short heels appearing before the rest of them. There stands y/n, in a flowy summer dress that is a beautiful pastel pink, down to her knees, and with red lipstick highlighting her lips. She smiles at me in the moonlight, the shadows of her figure cast onto the floor next to her.
I smile back, slightly shyly, almost drunk on the ideas of sweeping y/n off her feet and carrying her to a ballroom where we could dance the night away, her head pressed lightly against my chest and her fingers caught in my hair.
I shake my head slightly, telling myself to wake up. Y/n giggles before walking towards me happily. As she steps over the grass, she loses her footing and falls to the ground. After a few seconds of silence, she starts laughing hysterically, obviously deciding that the humour of the situation outweighed the pain.
I move forwards, chuckling slightly and take her hand to pull her to her feet carefully. "Stupid heels." She sighs quietly in English and her honest frustration makes me laugh again. Looking up at me, her smile returns to her face as she apologises and links arms with me so that she doesn't fall again.
I blush momentarily as I feel her arm slip through mine but after a little while of walking, it seems completely natural. Y/n talks animatedly, not very subtly hiding her excitement. I simply listen to her rambling, amused. Her joyfulness is contagious and I find myself almost skipping along with her, her laughter echoing through the night every couple of minutes.
We arrive at the beach after about 10 minutes of walking and y/n runs onto the sand instantly after pulling her heels off her feet. I grin ridiculously at the sight. I guess you never really grow up because shortly after, I chase after her. The night air is sharp against my cheeks and the crashing of the waves is loud in my ears, but none of that bothers me because here is y/n, running ahead of me, looking back to shout teasing words over her shoulder.
Feeling the competitiveness rise up inside of me, I increase my speed. She is average at running and she is not sprinting, so it is easy for me to pick up speed and catch her up. As I run into her, we fall to the ground gently, her under me giggling crazily and looking into my eyes contently. My arms are either side of her head and I can feel her body under me.
She wiggles around, trying to escape my grip and I forget to feel flustered or apologetic, or anything but focusing on winning against her in the little game we were playing. I wrestled her gently and she wrestled back, evidently having a brother meant that she was used to this rough play and didn't even seem to flinch when I held a death grip on her ankle to stop her from running away.
She laughed even harder, turning around and climbing on top of me for high ground. Now she sits on my stomach, holding my wrists with her small hands and laughing as the wind blows her hair around her head. I stop struggling and pout at her in defeat and she smiles, leaning forward. "Do you admit defeat Mr Jeon?" she whispers in my face and I blush at her closeness, feeling all the thoughts in my mind run away like a breath of wind.
I nod dumbly and blush ridiculously before turning my face away. How did I end up like this?
Y/n's POV
Jungkook nods and turns his face away, breaking eye contact with me. I sit up again slowly before realising where I am. This isn't the sand of the beach that I am sitting on, it's Jungkook. I roll off him quickly, so embarrassed that all I can do is sit next to him cross-legged, staring at him, waiting for him to say something and break this tension.
He turns his head away from the rolling waves of the sea and looks up at me, the moonlight reflecting on his hair and in his eyes. He says nothing, looking at me as though he expects to see the very fabric of my soul laid bare for him to see. I can't look away, his intensity making my heart speed up and my brain to stop functioning properly.
Jungkook's hair is a mess around his face, his dark eyes staring into mine like I am all he sees and his shirt is a crumpled mess from where I sat on top of him. After a while of nothing but the sounds of birds and the continuous sounds of the sea, Jungkook smirks slowly. My eyes widen in fear at this look.
I know what this is. Kookie asked me on a date, but Jungkook has shown up instead. I gulp softly, waiting for him to move. Sitting up, he reaches his hand out to me, I take it carefully, not sure what he is going to do. He pulls me towards him gently and I move forwards, being thrown back into his chest. He whispers into my red-tinted ear "Do you admit defeat?"

Author's Note
Hehe so um yeah. There is this. This wasn't planned just so you know. I guess Kook really does just have a mind of his own. I hope people have a good start to the year, I have! It is snowing softly at the moment, which is really pretty after all the rain today. Please vote and comment, it means so much to me and I love all of you who read my fanfic, thank you 💜
