Namjoon's POV

Jungkook and y/n arrive back, quietly and respectfully, but giggling like little children who have just come back from the park. I smile to myself softly, lying in bed in the darkness, glad that they both seemed to have had a nice time. I remember messing around with Jungkook when he was younger, breathless and laughing so hard I thought that I would faint. He has grown up a lot since then but I know that the child I saw grow up is still there.

It is just past midnight now, the depths of darkness finally closing in around the city, even though the bright street lights still shine glaringly. The bus is quiet, the sounds of even breathing echoing through the night air. Jungkook and y/n poke each other, telling each other to be quiet and I muffle a snort. What dorks.

Jungkook helps y/n climb to bed, holding her legs softly as she wobbles from place to place with her tiredness. I watch the gentleness and sincerity in his face and realise that Jungkook never fails to surprise. After all this time, he has matured so well. Sometimes it is easy to forget and see him as the nervous child he once was, but after all he has been through, I guess he really did learn some life lessons.

Jungkook climbs into bed and doesn't bother changing, he just turns over and pulls his blanket over him. I turn over myself to face the wall and reflect on all the recent events. Maybe this is the start of something new for us. Maybe this is a new chapter in our lives that we have all dreamt of but never been prepared to see the day.

Jungkook's POV

The date had my head spinning and my heart beating out of my chest. I felt like I was walking on air and my smile was stuck on my face. Being with y/n felt so easy. Almost as if I have known her for a couple of months, not a couple of days. I suppose that is when you know that you click with someone.

As I sang to her at the karaoke bar, I sang the sappy romantic lyrics to her. Finally, I have someone to aim my lyrics at, to truly be able to sing my heart out and picture one person in my mind. I don't think she realised that I was singing to her in that way, but I could see her face in awe as I threw in adlibs to impress her. I smiled at her awestruck expression, relishing in the feeling of confidence that washed over me.

As we had walked back, y/n kept complaining that her feet and ankles were hurting. I had laughed a couple of times, saying that she shouldn't have run around so much and y/n had just pouted at me cutely before looking away. Gathering all my courage, I asked her if she wanted a piggyback. I watched her face light up and she nodded her head enthusiastically.

"Be careful!" she had warned me, "I'm a little heavy," I had waved her off and picked her up swiftly. Maybe she isn't light, but she certainly is easy enough to pick up. We continued moving forward in silence for a while, the pavement feeling hard and rough under my feet and the night air finally starting to get to my cheeks and nose.

When we got back to the bus, y/n had gently whispered into my ear, "You can put me down now, thank you Kookie," Shivers had run down my spine and my hair had stood on end as I felt her warm breath against my neck. I placed her down carefully and she sat on the grass, exhaustion seeming to take over her face.

"Are you tired?" I mockingly teased her and she nodded her head, staring up at me with half-closed eyes. I crouched down and booped her on the nose with my finger. After looking caught off guard, y/n laughed as quietly as she could, trying to push my hand away but giving up after a while and holding my finger.

Once we were inside, I helped her get into bed as she swayed to and fro comically. I tried so hard not to hold somewhere that she wouldn't want me to touch or end up looking somewhere I am not supposed to and this made the job a little more difficult than it should have been. Y/n whispered an almost inaudible "Thank you, Jungkook, good night," before turning over to sleep.

My face flushed and my skin felt hot, but I ignored it and crawled into bed, pulling my covers over myself, more than ready to fall asleep.

Y/n's POV

Jungkook reaches his hand out to me and I take it softly before he pulls me into position. I can feel my dress brushing against my ankles and my heels supporting my feet precariously. My hair is scraped into a tight ballet bun with a few strands let out to frame my face and I feel the coolness of pearls around my neck.

The ballroom is spacious and grand. A few chandeliers decorate the curved ceiling overhead and the floor is made of a beautiful polished floor. Couples waltz around us elegantly, the live orchestra playing in the corner, fingers brushing over strings and notes floating into the evening atmosphere.

One of Jungkook's hands are holding mine firmly, and the other is placed on my waist as our feet move in time to the flowing music. I feel my long silk gloves brush against my skin and feel the warmth of Jungkook's chest through the fabric of my smooth dress, the pink of the material matching how I imagine my cheeks to look. We fly around the ballroom elegantly, not once breaking our intense eye contact.

As the piece of music comes to end, Jungkook halts and leans down to whisper something in my ear after tucking a strand of hair behind my ear with such a gentle touch that it makes my hands start to shake. "Will you be mine, princess?"

That's when I wake up.
